Man spends $5000 on dilapidated house and renovates it into incredible rental

Restoring a house is like bringing something to life and this wonderful feeling is something this man could pretty much relate to.

His YouTube channel called ‘Rehab Life’ has 11,600 subscribers and it’s filled with videos of him buying properties and renovating them into quality homes.

He wrote in his channel, “I do indeed buy some pretty rough homes, maybe even some those guys wouldn’t touch. Does it have a 40″ diameter tree laying on the roof? I bought that! Does it have a single board holding up half the roof? I bought that!”

This abandoned house, in particular, is a rundown property nobody wanted to stay in.

The owner didn’t even want it.

The man behind ‘Rehab Life’ said the property was abandoned by its original owner back in 2010 which resulted in unpaid taxes for years.

It was put up for auction.

No one bought it.

They then reverted the house’s ownership to the county government in 2017.

For the next 12 months, the abandoned house, once again, sat on the unclaimed property list. It was eventually listed as surplus property.

It was 2019 when he luckily saw it on the surplus property list, he wrote it down and decided to purchase it after.

He picked it up for $5k.

After going through the Math of the property’s total cost and expected ROI, he wasted not even a minute and went ahead to purchase the abandoned house for $5,166.16.

From “ugly duckling” to “big beauty”.

The abandoned house was surrounded by bushes and other greeneries, not to mention all the dried-up stems all over making it hard to penetrate inside the actual house.

Entering looked formidable.

It pretty much looked and felt like no one was really allowed to enter.

Using a sledgehammer, he then started demolishing all parts of the house that were deemed useless.

At one point in the video, he even fell from one of the worn-out crispy floors.

Although he also pointed out that some people were skeptical about him doing the actual work and calling it “staged.”

He, however, made a disclaimer and said that he hired a third-party contractor to do some special work, but he did the vast majority of the renovation.

He also noted that he didn’t film the contractors that he hired.

It finally started coming together.

“Yes, I did all the framing myself, trim/doors, flooring, ductwork, plumbing, most of the electrical, tile work, cabinets, countertops, and painting (oh how I loathe painting),” he wrote.

Watching the old rotten house turn into a beautiful house is so mesmerizing.

The transformation is nearly unbelievable.

Hard work sure pays off.

That’s exactly what happened here.

The image of the house that’s almost on the verge of breaking down is gone and what you’ll only see now is an image of pure hard work and dedication.

After a year, the guy behind the ‘Rehab Life’ said that the tenants who lived in the renovated house left it damaged.

As expected from him, he, once again, renovated the house to bring its beauty back.

Can we finally call this man “the king of restoration”? You be the judge.
