Man spends two nights and days trying to get “stubborn” cat off the roof
Cats seem to love climbing trees, roofs, and practically anywhere high enough to not be able to come down later on. No, it’s not a joke- it’s the truth! Whoever owns a cat or has been around cats for a while knows that it is very typical of cats to climb up high, while it is sometimes hard for them to find their way back down and get stuck.
Why do cats do that to themselves? Possibly because they feel safe up there, as being high off the ground makes a potential attack by another animal more difficult. Also, climbing higher places gives them the feeling that they can catch birds more easily- although this is not necessarily the case.
Whatever the reason, the results are more or less the same. Cats can either find their way back down after given time to work it out on their own, or they just despair and constantly meow until their human finds them and helps them safely come down.
The latter was the case with Melo, a cute black-and-white cat that got stuck on the roof and couldn’t jump off.
One evening, Greg noticed Melo on his roof and immediately urged him to jump down. He even stepped on a chair to reach closer to the roof and the cat. Apparently, he thought that it wasn’t that high for the jump to harm Melo, or that he was ready to catch him if the kitty did jump.
Either way, Melo would be safe. But he wasn’t convinced, so he decided to just stay there and freeze in the cold winter night.
The next morning, Greg went outside and saw that Melo was still there. Again he tried to talk him into jumping, but it was all in vain. Then he tried to figure out how Melo could have reached the roof and found a potential way- although completely absurd.
As the day went by, once more Greg tried to convince Melo to get down, but it was a fruitless attempt yet again.
Finally, on day three, Mike the electrician, as Greg called him in his video, decided to help. He went out of the window on the roof and tried to approach the scared kitty.
At first, Melo hesitated to go near him and avoided him, but little by little he gained his trust and managed to grab her. At that point, though things got a little scary, as the roof was slippery from the snow and ice, causing Mike to slip and almost fall. Luckily, he grabbed what looked like the window frame, and managed to push the cat inside the house through the window.
A few moments later, Mike himself can be seen getting inside through the same window. They both were safe and sound at last!
The video was uploaded on Greg’s YouTube channel, while the part of the rescue was reshared by The Dodo.
