Man stages armed robbery to test “guard dog” and is hilariously disappointed
Not all dogs are destined to be guard dogs.
Some are actually quite bad at performing in such a role.
Many dogs will react instinctively to potential intruders or threats. Other dogs just aren’t as high-strung, even in situations when they probably should be.
The owner of a jewelry store in Thailand named Worawut Lomwanawong found out first-hand how bad some dogs are at providing security.
His husky, Lucky, is being referred to online as quite possibly the worst guard dog in history.

CCTV footage captures Lucky’s indifference to robbery
Lomwanawong decided to put his fierce guard dog to the test one day at his story in Chang Ma, Thailand.
He wanted to find out just how well Lucky would protect him in case an armed intruder was to invade the store. So, he decided to fake a robbery.
A robbery was staged but Lucky didn’t seem to notice.
In order to re-create the scenario of an armed robbery, the man had someone with a fake gun come into his store and act like he was robbing it.
The man likely assumed that his loyal guard dog Lucky would pop up and subdue the man immediately. That’s not what happened, however.
Lucky doesn’t budge.
Perhaps Lucky would react differently if it had been a real robbery, but there is no evidence of this.
Lucky didn’t so much as bat an eyelash at the “intruder” in this training scenario. In fact, he never got up off the ground!
When the man entered the store, Lucky was just laying on the ground in front of the cash register. Evidently, nothing about the fake robbery led Lucky to believe he needed to move from that position. He stayed put where he was.
The armed robber gets away with a bag full of cash.
In this training session, the fake robber got away with a bag full of money. Perhaps Lucky has never developed an association between their owner having money and them having lots of food and treats to eat.
Had he done so, perhaps his reaction here would have been different.
“Lucky, I’m being robbed. Can you help? No? okay.”
During the staged armed conflict, the owner of the store glances over at Lucky from time to time as if to say “hey boy, being robbed over here, who wants to help stop a robbery? Who’s a good boy?”
But alas, Lucky never gets up from his position.
Not only did Lucky not find the situation dangerous enough to subdue the robber, he never found it even eventful enough that he should get up from his nap.
In fairness to Lucky, however, it was later revealed by the man that his guard dog actually knew the fake robber.
It’s possible Lucky recognized the man’s scent and knew he wasn’t a threat.
“This was a Thai police training of what it would be like if a thief came into my store and stole all the jewelry. The armed robbery in this video is of a policeman that my dog Lucky already knew; maybe that’s why she did nothing,” Worawut said to Bored Panda.
“I found it very funny to see that she didn’t even try doing anything and continued to sleep. When I posted the video on Lucky’s page, I didn’t imagine it would go viral. It’s amazing to see that in just 3 days, the video has gained over 1 million views.”
If Lucky isn’t a good guard dog, what is Lucky good at?
Just because Lucky isn’t a great guard dog, doesn’t mean he isn’t an excellent canine companion. Dogs aren’t just here to do things for us, they are here to be our friends and we think Lucky makes an excellent one.
