Stray dogs often have to dodge zooming vehicles on the streets or highways. Sometimes those dogs aren’t so fortunate and are struck by a speeding car left to die. The carelessness of people can be truly heartbreaking. But there are selfless heroes in this world that make the world a better place. The highway is a very frantic place, with mass amounts of cars zipping from place to place mostly always in a hurry.

You could say it’s not the best place to slow down and put your hazards lights on.

As for this heroic man, when he saw a furry body laying on the side of the road there was no question that he was going to help. The man named Rodrigo Gonzalez from Mexico City, Mexico turned his hazards in the fast lane and slowed to the scene. Rodrigo found this sweet golden-haired pup helpless on the busy highway which was a very dangerous thing to do.

The dog squealed and wiggled herself up to say hello to Rodrigo while cars honked at him and zoomed past him.

Rodrigo wasn’t going to leave this vulnerable pup to die. He understood immediately that this sweet dog was in very critical condition he carefully lifted the dog up to get him into the car. While rescuing this hurt pup Rodrigo recorded the rescue mission.

After he got the pup safely into his car Rodrigo’s eyes swelled up knowing how much pain this dog is going through.

Heroic Rodrigo named the dog Lucky and what a perfect fit it is. He took Lucky to the vet where he spent over a week in critical care. Lucky unfortunately lost his eye and ended up with a severe spinal injury because of the accident. The doctors told Rodrigo that he might not be able to walk ever again but Lucky isn’t a quitter.

In this video, you can see Lucky take very tiny steps to Rodrigo which is a very hopeful start.

Rodrigo has rescued over 20 dogs and fosters them until they find a forever home. Lucky is now apart of the ever-growing rescued pup crew.

Which is so heartwarming to know he has plenty of furry friends to hang out with.

Rodrigo’s kind acts don’t go unnoticed on his Facebook page he’s named Dogdrigo which couldn’t be more fitting. There are people in this world who could be defined as living angels. The people who will do anything to help another and in this case Rodrigo is the dog saving angel.

Dogs should never be left just to die on the highway and thankfully Rodrigo was there to save adorable Lucky’s life.

We’re sure this isn’t the last rescue mission Rodrigo will go on to help save another furry friend. Lucky is truly one of the luckiest pups around and as he gets stronger day by day we hope he will walk again soon. Watch the full rescue video below.
