In horror films, attics are portrayed as creepy, chilling environments with miscellaneous, forgotten artifacts, and family heirlooms.

Fortunately, real-world attics are a bit different, and generally aren’t creeping and crawling with ghouls, ghosts, and goblins.

And even if you don’t believe in ghosts, dark attics can still give you the goosebumps.

Recently, Rodolfo Cabrera spent 3 weeks turning his attic into a sanctuary of sorts.

The transformation’s almost unbelievable. Here’s what the attic used to look like:

The attic truly looks like something out of Scooby-Doo.

I mean you can practically see ghosts in the pictures…

But half-way through the renovation, the haunting stopped. Something beautiful began to take shape from the rubble.

The attic’s completely transformed, going from spooky, possibly-haunted crypt to sleek, spacious closet.

Rodolfo spent a pretty penny to put this all together – around $30,000.

Was it worth it?

See for yourself.

Rodolfo’s been remodeling homes for about 15 years. Attics are like a second home.

The Guatemalan-born Marylander founded Remodeling & Design LLC four years ago.

His project went viral when his daughter posted the pictures in a Tweet:

Building the gorgeous staircase was especially daunting.

“These are the stairs that lead to the famous attic closet”

Lush white light wraps the frame of the staircase, magically encasing the dark, wooden steps.

The luxurious steps lead to the closet above.

Led Zeppelin would probably suggest that it looks kinda like a stairway to heaven

Seriously, it’s divine.

So let’s walk up the stairs and take a look for ourselves.

Needless to say, Rodolfo’s work here’s absolutely gorgeous.

Both sides of the corridor are lined with white, wooden cabinets and drawers.

The back wall’s fit with a compact window and an armchair. A small black table can be seen on the right, featuring a few tasteful decorations.

Modern, sleek, and homey.

It’s truly breathtaking, especially considering how ridiculously shanty and haunted it once looked. The space is used brilliantly.

The floor’s lined with smooth, dark wood that fits perfectly amid the sleek black and whites.

Angled lights line the ceiling. Black paint runs down the room’s spine, tying everything together.

Rodolfo’s company, Remodeling & Design, posted more of the project on Instagram.

Some of the photographs are sublime. Everything about the space is beautiful.

Rodolfo’s home renovation project looks incredible. He’s truly a master of his craft. Before, the attic looked like a gathering ground for ghosts. Now, it’s completely transformed into a sleek black and white haven.

Well Rodolfo, that’s some pretty stunning craftsmanship. Your skills have impressed thousands of viewers online, in large part thanks to your daughter’s Tweets. I’m sure both you and your wife are incredibly happy with the results. I’m actually kind of jealous.
