Who doesn’t like that, right? The sights we see only in pictures, TV, or movies are no match to seeing them in real life. It is a dream come true for most of us to travel to all parts of the globe.

This man proves that it is possible to travel on all seven continents – even in a wheelchair.

Cory Lee has traveled all seven continents despite being in a wheelchair. Cory suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a hereditary disease that destroys nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain stem that controls skeletal muscle activity. This includes walking, breathing, swallowing, and speaking. Cory had this condition and was in a wheelchair since he was four.

However, his mom, Sandy Gilbreath, didn’t want to limit Cory on what he wanted to do with this life.

She would often take Cory on trips during his summer breaks from school. They explored new places and experienced thrilling adventures together. This is where Cory’s love for travel started.

Since then, he and his mom have planned on traveling the world together.

At age 30, he completed his ‘world tour’ when they visited Antarctica last February 2020, just before the borders closed due to the pandemic. It was also Cory’s most memorable travel so far.

Cory also imparts his experience through his blog.

In his blog, he educates his audience on wheelchair-friendly places he visited. He’s trying to show the world that people with disabilities can travel and experience great adventures, too.

One of the most important things you’ll learn from his blog is that planning takes time.

He would usually spend six months to a year researching his next travel destination. This process ensures that the places he will visit are as accessible as they claim to be, from hotels to sightseeing adventures, from transportation to thrilling and adrenaline-pumping experiences. He even asked them to send actual photos to see if it’s indeed accessible!

This extensive research allows Cory and his mom to have hassle-free travel.

Knowing that places have ramps and other wheelchair-friendly amenities gave them a sense of peace. They’re also happy to share this wonderful experience – something that not all persons with disabilities can enjoy.

To date, Cory has traveled to 37 countries already and is planning to go for more.

He visited Morocco, India, Australia, the Caribbean islands, Israel, Ecuador, Mexico, and many more countries, especially in Europe. His favorite so far was his visit to Antarctica and Morocco.

“It was surreal. There were icebergs, mountains of ice, penguins. It was everything you would imagine and more. I was moved to tears,” Cory said in an interview with Good Morning America.

Last July 26, he launched his children’s book called ‘Let’s Explore with Cor Cor.’

Cory and his mom wrote the book about his travels to further his advocacy in the possibilities of traveling with a wheelchair. It contains fun facts about the places he’s been and, at the same time, sends out a message that even those on wheelchairs can experience great adventures.

The release date was also the 30th anniversary when the Americans with Disabilities Act being passed.
