Man develops soft-spot for ‘unsaveable’ desert dog and melts 1M hearts trying to rescue her

In this dusty scrubland, everyone should ride off to the sunset.

But in the rocky and dusty landscape of the Grand Canyon, a mutt learned how to live both by and for herself.

She was a lone desert dweller.

No house, no name, no family, no friends. It was a Western classic in all aspects.

But freedom has a cost.

Her food hinges on uncertainty and her condition depend on her environment. Nonetheless, Haseya persisted and resisted.

Zach was gassing up in the Grand Canyon area when she saw Haseya.

The dog had just emerged from beyond the road.

And as Zach took a closer look, he noticed that the dog was dirty and neglected.

No one in the area, not even the gas station staff, seemed to be looking after the dog full-time.

She was a wild and free spirit with only miles of nothingness around her.

Upon asking around, he learned that local law enforcement has been trying to catch her.

But the dog always outsmarted them.

Then, one day, Zach noticed that Haseya didn’t emerge from the canyons.

It was quite unusual because she always makes an appearance in the area.

Worried about her condition, he set out to look for her.

Thanks to technology, Zach did not have to trek the area. He sent off a drone into the canyon and quickly searched for the dog.

After an hour of flying, he saw her just by a canyon entrance.

Luckily, Haseya saw the drone too.

The device also piqued her curiosity enough for her to come closer.

When Zach realized that the dog was interested, he began luring her back into the gas station area.

It was then that he hatched a plan to rescue the dog.

At first, they tried to lure her with some food. But it was clear that she intended to sprint away if approached.

They switched strategies and eventually caught Haseya – or at least, by the looks of it, she allowed herself to be caught.

Zach drove her back to Minnesota.

There, he hoped he could adopt her.

He was anxious at first because he already has two cats and a dog.

Would Haseya be accepted into the pack?

Zach was scared that Haseya wouldn’t be able to adjust to the pack or that the pack would refuse to accept her.

And then, one day, he noticed one of his cats hanging out with Haseya.

After a moment, the dog began licking and dressing the cat, and the feline was very welcoming toward the affection.

Then, his dog Marble seemed to sense that Haseya is someone he could play shenanigans with. And he was not wrong.

Since then, the pack is inseparable.

It’s been two years since Zach adopted Haseya and we know she’s living her best life.

She has since gone on various road trips with her siblings and has been experiencing the world.

Her life now is far from where she came from.

Her dusty bed is now made up of warm bedding. She doesn’t need to forage for food anymore and most importantly, she has a family to give and receive love from.

See how Zach lured Haseya the elusive desert dog with a drone in the video below!
