What would you do if, while walking around your town or city, you noticed a rough-looking stray dog?

Would you ignore it? Try to grab it so you could bring it to a vet? Call in a dog rescue team or animal control?

When the residents of one Mexican neighborhood noticed a mange-covered mutt on their streets they decided to call in a rescue team.

The team went to the area where the dog was last spotted and they found him right away.

This pup looked more like a coyote than a dog, he was skinny and covered in mange which made him look even worse.

Mange is when an animal has infections from several different types of mites and it often results in red scabby skin and hair loss.

This little dog had one of the worst cases of mange the rescue team had ever seen, but it is easily treatable and the team knew it would clear up without a problem.

They managed to catch the scared dog and get him into their vehicle before bringing him to their rescue center.

The Los Adoptables team was happy to take the dog in and facilitate his physical recovery.

His emotional recovery would take a lot longer, however.

Who knows how long the dog had been on the streets and what he had experienced in his life so far?

He did not like to be touched and would snap at anyone who tried.

That didn’t stop the team from trying though, and as his physical body healed, his emotional scars began to heal too.

Soon, the pup had turned from a mangy mongrel into a beautifully fluffy and handsome boy that they named Simba.

He still needed a lot of work though, in order to bring out the loving side his rescuers knew he had.

He had bonded with one of his rescuers and slowly began to lower his guard around her and let her pet him.

She loved him and knew that it wouldn’t be long before he would be able to be put up for adoption.

Knowing that, she wanted to ensure that he would be prepared for something he’d never experienced before, living in a real home.

She brought Simba home in order to acclimate him to house living.

He seemed to like the home but was still skittish and timid, he was even too scared to get up on the couch and cuddle with her.

Then one day, Simba’s bravery arrived and he jumped up on the couch and snuggled in with his rescuer.

That was when she knew he was ready and so she began to look for a forever home for him.

After some time of looking for the right fit, they finally found it in a woman who had another dog that looked just like Simba, and more importantly, had plenty of love to give.

He quickly settled in with the woman and her other dog and is now living the high life in California.

Simba’s transformation was a slow process, but as soon as he realized he was safe, the dog’s true personality came out.

He is now a goofy and spoiled couch potato who loves to play with his new mom and his furry sister.
