Matthew McConaughey hosts virtual bingo night for isolating elders and it's heart-melting
With the novel coronavirus and the COVID-19 disease wrecking havoc all around the world, millions of people have been confined to their own homes in self-isolation. Most governments have issued a strict lockdown, as people have to get used to this becoming the new ‘normal’ for a while until the virus can be defeated or dealt with accordingly.
Of course, this huge change in our lives isn’t easy at all, especially for isolated elders. Not only can’t they receive any visitors and likely won’t be able to for a very long time, but they also have the highest risk of dying. Therefore, social distancing is of the utmost importance, and we should limit contact with others as much as possible. Most social events in nursing homes have also been completely canceled as a safety measure.
In the tragic and uncertain world we live in today, it’s important to try and lift our spirits.
Matthew McConaughey has done something to warm the hearts of isolating elders: he hosted a virtual bingo night and kept them company!

Bingo is definitely a social activity that a lot of seniors at the facility look forward to, but due to the measures against the coronavirus, that wasn’t possible anymore. Luckily, thanks to the marvelous wonders of technology, they figured out the next best thing: video-calling. They could still play bingo, all while staying safely in their rooms.
How sweet and kind of Matthew McConaughey that he wanted to spend time with these lonely elders and help make this situation a little bit more comforting. It’s not hard to understand why he’s one of the most beloved actors in the world!
Even though the famous actor definitely surprised all of the residents with his kind and amazing virtual bingo arrangement, they also had a surprise in store for him.
After one of the bingo sessions, all of them showed their thanks by holding up green notes in the air with some heartwarming and touching personal messages. The thank you messages are incredibly heartfelt and it definitely made McConaughey’s night. They even referenced his tweet about green lights that went viral.
