Men take bachelor party trip to Tennessee — end up saving 8 stray puppies

If you have ever been to a bachelor party, then you know how wild they can get. Many such parties include drinking and a lot of shenanigans.

So, when Mitchell Craddock and his seven friends decided to celebrate his upcoming wedding with a bachelor party, no one had any idea of the good that was about to come out of it.

As Craddock and his buddies, who all live in Vicksburg, Michigan, partied in a cabin in the woods of Tennessee, they were surprised by a visitor as they prepared breakfast one morning. That morning, they saw a female dog watching them from the doorway, attracted by the smell of the bacon that they were cooking.

“We went outside to pet her, and that’s when we noticed she was in rough shape,” Trevor Jennings, a friend of the groom, told The Dodo. “You could see her ribs, and she was eating any scrap of food we gave her.”

As the party progressed over the next few days, the men noticed that the dog would be waiting for them every time they returned to the cabin after going out. Finally, the men decided they needed to do something to help her.

“She was such a sweet dog that once we gained her trust, she was happy to see us, wagging her tail — just a big sweetheart,” Craddock told ABC News. “We pooled a bunch of money to buy food and beer. After the third day, our beer fund turned into [a] puppy food fund.”

They suspected that she had some puppies somewhere nearby. Following her out into the woods, they noticed she was protective of one particular spot. Going over to the spot one morning, the men discovered where she was hiding her puppies.

The momma dog had made a den in a hole in the bush.

Dragging the puppies out, the men discovered seven puppies. The men took the puppies back to the cabin with them to help the mother, who they named Annie, take care of them.

First, they made beds for all of the puppies using their suitcases, then they gave them their first bath.

After all of this, the men couldn’t just leave Annie and her puppies in the woods and decided to adopt them all. The puppies were soon distributed amongst the guys and their family members.

Annie was adopted by Craddock’s grandparents, as well as one of her puppies. Jennings ended up keeping one of the puppies, naming him Gunner.

“We all live within about a 5-mile radius of each other and hang out most weekends,” Jennings said. “We typically bring the dogs along with us so they still see each other. I would say the bachelor party was a success.”
