Spring has this transformative feel to it that makes everyone want to change something. Whether it is painting your house with pastel colors, getting a haircut, or changing your motif, spring brings in new changes in our life. And we do understand it considering spring is when the ice melts off and flowers begin to bloom.

Although floral motifs have a feminine association to them, we live in an era where we transcend these archaic beliefs of gender norms. One way of showing that we don’t believe in this backward thinking is this group of men. These men are excited to arrange vibrant flowers within the folds of their beard!

Interestingly, the earliest record of bearded men wearing flowers is from the seventies, so they’re just putting back the trend. Recently, Utah florist and photographer Sarah Winward started decorating the beard of her husband, David, with flowers. She took some photos and posted them to her blog in January 2013.

Artist Hayley Shae, who works with florals to bring her pieces to life, thought of weaving flowers into a beard for her art exhibition. The results were stunning! Now flower beards are everywhere.

Even drag queens decided to join in on the fun!

These drag queens totally got the look. Complete with throwback hair clips, a killer eye look, and a kitty cat. They look fierce!

Start by choosing your flowers.

It’s best to pick delicate lightweight ones such as daisies, flows, and hydrangea. There are a couple of colors for these flowers that you can pick especially the hydrangea. You can even get one from a flower shop or your neighborhood.

The second step is to seperate and remove the stems for each flower.

Leave at least 1/4 bit of stem to attach it to your beard. Then prepare a spoonful of raw sticky honey in a bowl and clean tweezers.

The third step is to start getting creative!

Using the tweezers, pick on the flowers and dip the stem on the bowl of honey. Then attach it to the beard. Repeat the step until you create a beautiful flower beard. You can always check for inspiration online to guide you on the design you want to create.

If you want your flower beard to last longer, you can use more branchy flowering plants that will easily tangle in your hair. Either way, this is a fun project you can work on. You can even wear a flower beard during events such as weddings, photoshoots, or outings.

Play around with different styles and share them on social media.
