Merry-go-rounds are so much fun. It’s no wonder kids and kids-at-heart absolutely adore them. They’re a part of the reason why amusement parks are such a hit for a lot of people.

It turns out chickens like them, too. Well, that’s not surprising. Being stuck in their coop all day, they can get bored easily.

Making carousels for your feathered friends is quite easy.

Believe it or not, it doesn’t cost a lot, too. All you need to do is recycle a few items.

If you have an old bicycle wheel, you can get started right away.

Take out the wheel and place it overtop something. Make sure that it’s able to spin and it’s sturdy enough for your chickens to ride on top of it.

You can install your DIY merry-go-rounds in your garden, coop, backyard or anywhere your chickens tend to roam.

Make them more interesting!

You can go all out with this project. For example, you can paint the wheels with bright colors to make them more attractive. You can also place some treats on it. For sure, your chicken friends will come jumping and pecking once they see their tasty treats dangling.

It’s more than just entertainment.

The DIY merry-go-rounds for chickens offer a good way for your feathered friends to stay fit and healthy. Plus, they can keep them healthy, too. You see, chickens can get obese and it can be a huge problem for their health if they become heavier than they’re supposed to.

Also, if you’ve been taking care of chickens for a long time, you’d know that keeping them healthy helps them lay good eggs.

No bicycle wheel?

No problem. You can use an old side table as an alternative. Remove the top and attach something that can spin on it. Then, you can hang some treats. As soon as your chickens start jumping and pecking at them, it’ll start spinning!

Chickens need attention, too!

They may be different from dogs and cats but they surely deserve some love and attention from their humans, too. Since you can’t spoil them by taking them to the park or playing fetch, you can treat them with their own merry-go-round.
