Meteorologist's infant son adorably crashes her live broadcast and she handles it like a pro
Being a mom means giving up a lot of your freedom – a lot more than many people anticipate.
Think you can shower alone? Nope. How about using the toilet behind a closed bathroom door? Oh, no. So naturally, if you have to work from home during the pandemic, your kids are going to cross right into your workspace, too.
One mom knows all too well how intrusive little kids can be – and so does the whole nation.
At least most of us don’t have to share a space in our homes with the rest of the country, but Leslie Lopez, a meteorologist at KABC, has to do just that this year.
The worst our kids could do is distract us, and perhaps interrupt a Zoom meeting. Leslie’s 9-month-old son, however, had bigger plans: he decided to crash the party during a live broadcast.
Leslie’s AccuWeather forecast, recorded from her home in California, started off like any other.
But in a split second, all of that changed when a small figure appeared in the shot: little Nolan.
It seemed that Nolan simply couldn’t wait until mom was off-air – he wanted attention, now! So he innocently approached Leslie and grabbed hold of her legs.
For a minute, Leslie attempted to continue her report:
“We’re waiting for that storm right here in Southern California…”
But she couldn’t help stopping to chuckle at Nolan. Who could be mad when he looks so cute and innocent?
Proving she was a true professional – both as a mom and in her career – Leslie simply picked Nolan up and continued her report to the end.
Of course, she had to acknowledge the little guy sitting on her hip, and at one point, she quipped:
“He walks now, guys, so I’ve lost all control.”
When the video was posted on Twitter by Leslie’s colleague Brandi Hitt, it became an instant viral sensation.
Many people praised Leslie for how professionally she handled the whole thing.
One commenter wrote:
“i LOVE this! you embraced the moment with grace and humor and it MADE your broadcast! we need more of that!”
Another added:
“This is what the real world looks like now I thought that was very cute made my day.”
Leslie spoke out on her Instagram Stories about her hilarious weather blooper, thanking everyone for their responses to the video.

She wrote:
“Work/home life balance can be difficult, but in some ways, this pandemic, at times, has offered incredibly special moments. Thanks for enjoying this with us – it means more than you know.”
Working solo from home is tough – especially when you’re a live presenter with a son who’s just learned a new skill!

In an interview with Good Morning America, Leslie said:
“For the first time ever, he’s pulled himself up from sitting to standing. On one hand, I’m so proud of him…and I’m so glad he didn’t face-plant on live television.”
