Cop helps deployed son surprise family with a fake traffic stop
Getting pulled over by the police can be a scary experience. This is particularly true when you know you’ve done nothing wrong.
Nancy and Richard Stahl had been pulled over for a speeding stop.
Initially, Nancy thought it was just for a speeding stop. However, when police officers approached them, they were told that the vehicle they were driving had been tied to a drug transaction.
Because of what the police officer said, the family had to exit their vehicle.
Nancy recalled:
“I was mad and angry because I was getting a speeding ticket. When the police officer told me it was that my car was seen in a drug transaction, my heart was pumping and my husband was stunned. They then asked us to step out so they could search our vehicle ā I was mad and had my head down.”
When Nancy stepped out of the car, her eyes caught sight of a familiar figure.
It was his son Kenneth. He had been deployed across different parts of the Middle East, including Kuwait and Syria.
He had been out of the country for 11 months because of his deployment.
His parents had no clue that he was in the police officers’ car. They didn’t even know that he’s already in the country!
As soon as Nancy saw Kenneth, she immediately ran towards him.
She shared:
“I looked up and there was my son, Kenneth – before I knew it I was flying to hug him.”
Kenneth planned his surprise very well.
He said:
“I knew I was going to come home for school. I didn’t know the date, but it was a last-minute thing and I didn’t really have the time to prepare to come home. I hate to give late notice to my brother to come get me and stuff…I was thinking of ideas, because I usually watch [viral videos] on YouTube and I think itās amazing how these soldiers do this with their parents. The parents are always so happy when the see them, and I really wanted to do that.
He asked for the help of his brother and the Fairmont Police Department.
Kenneth’s brother convinced their parents to go out to do some grocery shopping. However, while on the way, his dad decided to take a different route.
The brother shared:
“It was like he knew we were there, but he didn’t. We had to hurry and set up for my parents at a different area, and when they finally came downhill, I said, ‘That’s them.”
The touching surprise earned comments from tons of viewers.
One YouTube viewer said:
“His mom’s reaction is so pricelessšI’m teary eyed watching them can’t imagine the joy they’ve felt to see each other and there tight hugs to each other shows it allā¤ļø”
Another one commented:
“Mom’s reaction made me gasp and cry. Priceless! Bless the officers in assisting the most welcome traffic stop!”
