6-week-old baby flung from car during crash miraculously survives and emerges unscathed

People love miraculous survival stories.

In a world where horrible things can happen to anyone, it’s comforting to see fate be kind every now and then.

This is one of those stories.

It all started when Ezra Benitez, a six-week-old baby boy, was in the car with his family. At hardly 2 months old, the baby was strapped in a baby car seat.

Its small, padded, and cushioned exterior was there to protect him from any harm.

His father, Ulizes Benitez, was driving the family’s Cadillac Escalade on Highway 99 Main Street with his wife, and two young sons.

Lots of roads, lots of cars, and lots of things that could go wrong.

As luck (or bad luck) would have it, something did go wrong.

Traveling upwards of 45 miles per hour, another vehicle came speeding from the opposite direction. Ezra’s father swerved to avoid a head-on collision.

In an attempt to avoid the car, the family’s vehicle ended up flipping over several times – with the family still inside.

“That’s when I lost control and spun out of control and remember feeling weightless, and just thinking of my kids, and my wife. So many things were going through my head.” – Ulizes said to CBS Sacramento

Ulizes, his wife, and the toddler were hurt but okay.

Ezra, however, was nowhere to be found.

The newborn had flown out of the SUV, still strapped into his car seat.

The terrified father immediately began searching for his son.

He called for Ezra, trying to hear any sign of the newborn and whether the child was okay.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, Ulizes informed them of his missing baby boy. The father, along with emergency responders, searched the vegetation on the side of the road.

Eventually, Ezra was found.

And what happened to the baby was nothing short of a miracle.

Ezra was located in the bushes along the side of the road, strapped into his car seat and completely unharmed. In fact, the baby seemed unfazed. Against all odds, the car seat had flown through the air and landed right-side up.

His car seat wasn’t fastened into the car properly, which allowed the momentum of the accident to fling it outside of the vehicle.

“……And there he was on top of a bush in the car seat. Not one bit of dirt on it, like he landed perfectly and clean – no scratches.” – Ulizes said in a FOX40 coverage of the story.

Ezra’s mother seemed to suffer the brunt of the incident, getting pelvic and rib fractures.

But otherwise, she was also okay.

Luckily, the entire family emerged unharmed.

The family knew they were blessed and was very grateful about the outcome of their situation. Christmas was right around the corner too, so blessings were well in order.
