Dogs’ sense of hearing is much stronger compared to humans, this fact, therefore, makes them hear sounds a lot louder. In fact, they can even hear sounds that are coming from afar. However, this also makes them scared of a lot of sounds such as fireworks.

Dogs are easily spooked by the loud and exploding sounds of fireworks and that’s what exactly happened to a dog named Rajah.

Scared and anxious.

It was just days before the much-awaited day when Rajah, a lab-Catahoula Leopard Dog mix got scared of fireworks. Her owners, Mary Lynn Whitacre and Ryan Washick live in South Carolina and the neighborhood decided to set off their fireworks a little early. The loud sound spooked the poor dog and as expected, she went off dashing away from their house.

Her owners tried to run after her but they failed, Rajah was too fast.

Mary Lynn and Ryan began looking for her and it took them hours to search but found no luck. They also posted it on Facebook, they asked people for help in finding her. Whitacre also mentioned that Rajah might be just around Simpsonville and Woodruff Roads near Heritage Lakes.

They also shared that their dog’s microchipped and that her tag has their phone numbers.

Too early to give up.

The couple decided to drive around the area with hopes of finding their missing dog somewhere. Eight long hours went by and they found no Rajah around, they eventually gave up and called it a day. They both hoped that tomorrow, their beloved pooch would be back in their arms.

But at 3 AM, the couple got up to a pleasant surprise! Someone was ringing their doorbell and as they look into their security camera, they saw none other than Rajah! At first, Mary Lynn and Ryan thought that a Good Samaritan brought their dog home, but that wasn’t the case.

Rajah came back home by herself.

The clever dog used her nose and poked the doorbell.

Her funny face said it all, it was as if she was telling her owners, “Anybody home? Mom? Dad? I’m here!”

The couple couldn’t believe their eyes and started laughing as they watch their dog from their Ring cam. Although the dog still looked a little scared, she also appeared to be sorry for making her parents worried.

Thankfully, Rajah wasn’t injured when she came home.

Special occasions like The Fourth of July will always be celebrated with loud cheers and fireworks, and as pet owners, it’s our sole responsibility to gear our beloved dogs up for the occasion. To avoid your pet from running away just like what happened to Rajah, it’s best to just stay at home with your family and friends as you celebrate. It’s actually more intimate if you do it that way, don’t you agree?
