Missing dog returns home to family with ribbon from dog show pinned to collar
A couple from West Sussex had an unforgettable experience a few months ago. Their story went viral.
It also had everyone talking.
Peter and Paula Closier accidentally left their gate open.
This incident allowed their beloved dog, Bonnie, a Beagle mix, to become curious and wander off.
Later, the couple found out that their dog was missing.
They became worried sick.
They didnāt know where he was or where to look.
Bonnie is a five-year-old healthy Beagle, but we all know how dangerous it is for a little dog to be wandering around alone.
They started with their neighbors.
Because everyone loves Bonnie, even their neighbors started looking for her.
Unfortunately, there was no Bonnie.
It was getting hotter that day and it was a Sunday, so the search team had to call it a day.
They decided they would start searching again the next day.
John Wilmer was driving and was on his way to a dog show in Surrey when he saw Bonnie walking on the other side of the street.
Even though he was in a hurry, he knew he had to rescue the dog.
Bonnie was quite naughty.
She tried to race John, but the kind man eventually caught up with her.
He put her inside his car, along with his two Beagles, and posted a photo on Facebook.
Then, after some time, someone saw Paulaās post and told John about it.
Soon, they found each other.
Oh! The relief that Paula and Peter felt when they talked to John.
John told the couple to wait for him and heād bring Bonnie back.
He was just in a hurry.
Later that day, John went to the home of Paula and Peter, and then, when the couple saw Bonnie running towards them, their sadness and worry faded away.
The couple hugged Bonnie, and that was when they noticed something odd.
A yellow ribbon around her neck.
Upon further inspection, they were stunned to learn that their Bonnie came from a dog show and won 3rd place.
How did this happen?
John explained he was on his way to the dog show when he saw Bonnie.
Because the pup was already with him, he listed her under the āBest Rescue Dogā category.
True enough, Bonnie showed everyone her charm and bagged 3rd place.
Everyone had a good laugh.
The couple was so proud of Bonnie. They were also very much grateful to John who took Bonnie and cared for her.
Even though the whole incident ended in a very harmonious and funny scene, the couple learned a very important lesson.
They promised to be more cautious.
Funny as the situation turned out to be, they don’t want it to happen again.
In an interview with GBNews, the couple was asked if they will let their dog join dog shows again, and they said that they might consider this since she seemed to love the experience.
We’re pretty sure Bonnie will get another reward if she joins a dog show again, but this time, under a different category. What do you think?
