Police find missing dog and make him confirm his identity by singing his favorite song

Our dogs mean the world to us. They’re called our furbabies for a reason, after all. They are our family and we’d do just about anything to keep them safe and happy. So, when a dog goes missing you can imagine how terrifying it would be if you don’t have a good way of identifying them to others. Thankfully, one Husky owner will never have to worry about that.

When an Israeli-based man’s Husky went missing, he was able to be reunited with him because of his dog’s love for singing.

Not only does the Husky love singing, but he even has favorite songs he loves to howl it out to.

This isn’t so surprising given what we know about Huskies. Aside from being breathtakingly gorgeous, they are known to be incredibly vocal.

Siberian Huskies are vocal. They rarely bark but will whine, or moan, and also chirp and howl. Head held high, they will produce one of the most haunting songlike sounds. Now, this Siberian song fest may be music to the ears of a Siberian and the Siberian Husky fancier, but the neighborhood may not agree,” explains the animal welfare organization, RescueEveryDog, on their website.

While all the neighbors may not dig the harrowing howls of a Husky, it is precisely this trait that was responsible for the reunion between this dog and his human.

The dog lives with his owner in the South District of Israel in the city of Beersheba. When his owner, who chose to remain anonymous, realized that his beloved Husky was nowhere to be found, he called the police and reported him as missing.

Miraculously, Beersheba police officers came across a bedraggled-looking dog matching the Husky’s description.

The husky was hanging out with a group of teenagers. When the police questioned them, the teens said that they had discovered the malnourished dog in a field near an archaeological site. Though he looked a little worse for wear, officers were reasonably sure that this might be the dog that was reported missing.

The police officers who found the Husky then brought him with them to a police station just outside city limits. There, they delivered some basic first aid to the dog and got him hydrated while they reached out to the man they thought was his owner.

Now, just about anyone else would rush down to the police station to see if it was their furbaby. When the Husky’s owner got a call from the police about a dog they suspected to be his, though, he wasn’t worried about coming down to identify him.

Instead, the man told officers that if it was his Husky, they’d know by simply playing a couple of songs.

Apparently, the Husky has two favorite jams he likes to howl to.

The first is the theme song to the Israeli hit sitcom Shemesh (off-air since 2004). The other is the opening tune to the children’s educational cartoon Arthur.

The dog’s owner told the officers that his Husky would identify himself by happily singing along to his favorite tunes. So, the officers obliged and played a few tracks before playing the dog’s favorite songs and you can literally see the moment that the Husky recognizes one of his them.

The handsome dog throws his head back in a loud, long, and excited howl. You can tell he is showing off his best singing voice for his strange audience and loving every minute of his favorite songs.

After his husky performance, there was no doubt in the officers’ minds that they had found the right dog.

The police called the man back and told him the news, much to his relief. He shot straight down to the station after that to be reunited with his beloved canine singer.

I cried the whole way here. You poor thing,” the Husky’s dad said while bear-hugging his treasured dog. “Thank you, thank you so much,” he added while turning to the police officers.
