There is a certain amount of trust that comes with your kids and daycare. You are leaving your baby with near strangers and hoping nothing happens. The vetting process is SO important when finding a daycare that you feel safe to leave your most valuable thing in the whole world.

What happens when that vetting process doesn’t work out as you expect?

Especially in times like now, daycares are essential for working families. If you don’t work from home, there isn’t any school. If you do, having a kid around the house isn’t the easiest thing in the world to work with! Reading reviews and hearing what others have to say about the daycare is all a part of the process.

For one mom, the vetting process didn’t save her from a terrible accident.

One toddler in Tuscon, Arizona, was the victim of one of the strangest things we have seen. After the story broke, it went viral for all to see. For a mom, seeing your kid be hurt while you aren’t around is horrifying.

Alice Martin started taking her 15-month-old daughter to a nearby daycare.

Creative Beginnings, the daycare that Alice took her daughter to, seemed to be amazing. It was close to work, and it was accredited. It was also near the University of Arizona, where Alice was enrolled and taking classes.

When Alice picked her daughter up one day, she realized what happened.

Picker her daughter up from daycare, she noticed she was a bit fussier than usual. The daycare staff didn’t mention anything that could have been an issue, so she just took her home. Everything was normal until bathtime.

Taking off her onesie for bathtime, Alice saw bright marks on her daughter’s back and arms.

At first look, she had no idea what the marks could be. After a closer look, she realized.

“At first, I was like ‘are those really bite marks?’ And then, my brain kinda stopped thinking and I started crying,” Alice Martin told KOLD News 13. “There’s over 25 plus, it’s hard to tell. 25 would be the minimum that the police officer and I discussed.”

Alice was bewildered that this horrible thing happened while under the supervision of the daycare staff.

For a kid to be angrily bitten over 25 times without a cry or whimper was almost impossible. The daycare staff was either negligent or saw what happened and didn’t say anything.

“The fact that nobody intervened in how many minutes, maybe they were left alone, maybe they just disregarded the cries, I don’t know. But it takes some time to do that kind of biting and my daughter would have been very upset,” Martin said.

Not knowing what to do, she went to the news.

Legal cases can be expensive and terrifying. Once the local news picked up the story, however, people were shocked. Now, the evidence is clear, and people all around the area are aware. It’s one of those lessons that doesn’t really have something to be learned, sadly.
