When this family adopted this abused Doberman pincher from a shelter, they had no idea he would soon save their daughter’s life. The brave dog sacrifices himself, to save the toddler from Australias poisonous Brown Snake. He gets bit on the paw and ends up in a race for time to survive.

Catherine Svilicic had just adopted a Doberman, then, she was rushing him to the vet to get anti-venom

Kahn, is a Doberman who was rescued by, Kerry Kinder, after being severely abused for years. When she found him, he had been starved, beaten, and left with broken ribs.

That didn’t stop the Svilicic family from adopting Kahn, and boy are they glad they did now!

17-month-old Charlotte was playing with Kahn in the yard when he started acting aggressively out of the blue

Catherine watched in horror, as her new dog threw her young daughter by her diaper. That’s when she saw a huge Brown Snake(the worlds 3rd most venomous snake) lunge out from underneath the house and bite Kahn.

Kahn let out a huge yelp and jumped back, the poisonous snake had bitten him on the paw, the pooch immediately collapsed. They rushed him to the vet, hoping to get the venom out in time.

“Khan was really concentrating and was acting aggressive towards Charlotte and kept trying to nudge her but it wasn’t working, so he grabbed her by the back of the nappy and threw her more than a meter. I realized quickly it was a snake and Khan had been trying to get in between her and the snake before he threw her.” Catherine told the Advertiser.

Luckily, the snake wasn’t able to release very much venom and Kahn survived

The Svilicic family had only had Kahn for four days when the incident happened. His selfless act solidified his bond with the family, who feels they owe Kahn their daughter’s life.

“If Khan wants a gold bowl, Khan gets it. We owe him for the rest of his life,’’ said Catherine.

Turns out, saving kids might run in Kahn’s blood. His grandfather also saved a child under similar circumstances

Kerry Kinder, who rescued Kahn with her organization, the Doberinling Boarding Kennels, wasn’t surprised at Kahn’s heroic act. She even said his grandfather was a hero in the same kind of situation!

“He was starving for attention and wanted to be loved because he came from an abused home, so I’m not surprised about what he has done at his new home.”

Charlotte and Kahn now have an unbreakable bond, and Catherine knows she can trust him with her daughter’s life

Now older, Charlotte understands and appreciates what her best bud Kahn did for her as a baby!

There’s always a risk involved when you adopt dogs that have been abused, but Kahn turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to the Svilicic family. To see this amazing story, watch the video below!
