Mom shares clever DIY child-proofing hack using baby wipes container

Unless you’re living in a padded room, childproofing your home is one of the life-saving tasks you can do once your baby starts to crawl. There are plenty of baby-proofing items out there but let’s face it: ensuring your child’s safety at home comes at a high cost.

Having a child is fun, but raising one can be challenging and expensive. As soon as your baby becomes a toddler, you can’t just keep your eyes off of them especially once they learn how to crawl and walk.

Luckily, thanks to social media, people all over have been sharing “mom hacks” that help make life a little easier and relaxing for parents. Although it can get tedious, our children’s safety should be our number one priority.

Toddlers are naturally curious and will pretty much tinker with anything and everything they can get their hands on. They crawl around and would probably touch and poke everything they see on their path.

This can be stressful for parents because almost everything around the house can pose a threat. Sure, you can easily place these dangerous items up high where they can’t reach them but what about those that they can – take electrical outlets for example.

Most electrical outlets are usually low and in a child’s height range, thus making it a magnet for curious toddlers.

Purchasing electrical outlet covers would probably be the first thing that comes to mind, but why not try this extremely handy baby-proof hack that one mom shared online.

Most hacks are made up of items you didn’t think was possible. Usually, they are simple and clever techniques for accomplishing some familiar tasks. On this particular “mom hack” one mom used an item that you’d probably been tossing in the trash without realizing its use.

As a parent, chances are you’ve been using a lot of baby wipes for your child. Of course, the empty packaging goes straight to the bin but what if we tell you that it can help babyproofing your home?

One mom, Brittany Kurtz, shared this hack on Facebook that was shared over 179,000 times! The idea is really simple, and all you need is the empty baby wipes container.

“Remove the adhesive top from the baby wipes package, then place over outlets. I certainly still will keep my baby safe outlet covers in, but this is just another precaution for on top. Out of site, out of mind,” she said along with her post.

This remarkably easy hack just requires you to do two steps: first, remove the plastic dispenser off the package then just slip it over the electrical outlet to make it look like a plastic outlet door, and voilà! Your electrical outlet is now childproof.

Although the adhesive cap is already sticky, it’s best to add more adhesive to it so that your toddler can’t easily take it off!

Most moms love this hack but not everyone agrees that this is a great idea. Although both can be accurate, you can still use this hack as reinforcement with another electrical cover as a safety precaution.
