Pregnant mom contracts coronavirus and wakes up in the hospital with a flat belly
Some people are really struggling right now. Amidst the coronavirus scare, there are people who have been laid off, people who are at risk and are fearful, and people who don’t know what the future hold for them. One of the most challenging things to go through during this time would be a pregnancy. This woman had COVID-19 and was pregnant and ready to give birth.
Angela Primachenko was a soon-to-be mom well into her pregnancy!
Living in Vancouver, Angela had an experience that some would find incredibly scary. This is the story of a mom who went through labor and birth while entirely unconscious.
Going to sleep pregnant and waking up with a flat tummy is terrifying.
More than just a pregnancy, Angela started to feel unwell around late March. After a few days, she had developed a fever and was continuing to deteriorate. What’s worse, she was 33 weeks pregnant.
Visiting the hospital, she decided to get tested.
Angela knew how things worked in hospitals. She actually worked as a respiratory therapist at the very hospital she was at. After going through testing, the tests came back. Angela had the novel coronavirus.
March 29th came around, and she was sicker than ever.
Things continued to get worse. Angela was so sick that the doctors felt that they only had one option left to help save Angle and the baby. On March 29th, she was placed into a medically induced coma.
April 1st came around, and it was time to deliver the baby.
While some people look forward to “the big day,” Angela was unconscious, and her family was worried. Thankfully, despite the difficulties and challenges associated with a sick and unconscious mother, the doctors had a successful delivery. Ava was born and named appropriately. Ava means “breath of life.”
Oskana Luiten, Angela’s sister, was incredibly worried during the process and posted the story online.
A loving sister, she said:
“My twin not only survived Covid-19 but also gave birth while being under an induced coma, I know, we all didn’t even know that’s possible. Feels surreal posting a picture with Angela next to me. The last two weeks I wasn’t sure if I would ever take a new picture with her.”
After much prayer and hoping, Angela pulled through, and the baby was happy and healthy.
Spending a long time in ICU as a new mother is not ideal, yet Angela braved through with courage and determination. The hospital staff was so amazed by her attitude and recovery that they gave a standing ovation and clapped as she left the ICU room.
After some time, Angela will get to join her family.
Angela is still waiting for the green light to leave the hospital as she was still contagious with the virus. Once she gets the go-ahead, you know the first thing she is going to do is meet Ava.
Ava is still in the NICU but will be going home soon!
This story is inspiring and reminds us of the resilience of humans. I wouldn’t get between this mother and her baby!
