Mourning dog mom can’t believe eyes when dog she buried several days earlier turns up alive

One can only imagine how it feels like to lose a pet.

Losing a pet is heart-shattering.

Codie Hutton, a resident from Suffolk, was beyond heartbroken when her beloved Springer Spaniel Maisie got lost.

Then heartbreak turned to grief when she received the most upsetting news.

Her dog was found in the middle of the road, after being hit by a car.

She was lifeless.

A few days after, however, she received a phone call that will make the story stranger than fiction.

It was about Maisie and how she was found miles away from home.

Hutton, an NHS worker, lost Maisie in the middle of a revelry.

Recalling the events, Hutton said that some fireworks spooked and terrified the poor spaniel.

Maisie, when she spotted a chance, bolted out from their car and was never seen again.

They organized a search party.

“We formed a search party, staying up till 3:30 am the first night in the hope of finding Maisie.” She said, as quoted by The Daily Mail.

Hutton became more anxious when she received news that Maisie must’ve been clipped by a car.

The dog was said to veer off from the road where witnesses lost track of her again.

The night went on and still, Maisie remained elusive.

Hutton even camped in a field where her dog was last seen.

It did not yield any clues or leads. Then, the next morning, she received a call.

A body of a dog was found and it was on the road close to where Maisie was last spotted.

Hutton was devastated by the news.

She broke the news to her son Taylen, by saying that Maisie was now a star in doggy heaven.

And despite not finding the microchip in the dog’s body, Hutton buried her poor Maisie.

Maisie was buried in her garden. The grave was full of flowers, showing how much Hutton loved her Maisie.

Then, she received an unexpected call the next day.

She received phone calls from friends that Maisie was spotted seven miles away.

It baffled Hutton.

How could Maisie be alive when she already buried her? To find answers, she went out to help her friends with the search.

People who spotted Maisie then took a picture and confirmed it was indeed Hutton’s 9-year-old pooch.

As if knowing that Hutton was going to come and get her, sightings of Maisie were popping up every few minutes.

Maisie was corralled in a driveway.

When Hutton finally arrived at the scene, Maisie was already safely nestled in her father’s arms.

She couldn’t believe the events that transpired in the last couple of days, but the nightmare was finally over.

Maisie was relatively unharmed except for a minor infection and exhaustion.

Maisie took a 17-mile journey.

When she was found, she was sighted in different places that spanned 17 miles.

To celebrate Maisie’s return, Hutton organized a fundraiser for FIDO or Finding Ipswich Dogs Organization.

FIDO has helped over 2,000 dogs find their way home.

Hutton shared that one of the members of the organization helped them every step of the way, from setting food baits, bulletin signs, and documentation.
