This “suddenly sister” got to experience something that very few people do. And she was so, so happy.

Most kids learn that they’re going to have a younger brother or sister long before the baby comes into the world.

It can be a nerve-wracking announcement for any parent, as there’s no knowing how the soon-to-be elder sibling will take the news.

But the family in this story had a very different experience.

Raygen and Harper Pruitt knew that their parents, Shane and Kasi, wanted to bring another child into their family. But the mom and dad’s experience was much more difficult this time around. They learned that they could no longer have kids, so they embarked on the lengthy process of adoption.

The family had no way of knowing how close they were to taking home a child. All that they could do was wait and pray.

Eventually, the family got the good news. They were able to adopt not one but two younger brothers, Titus and Elliot.

But the parents still wanted another. So they began the adoption process again.

This time, all four kids would eagerly ask the parents “When is our brother or sister coming home?”

The parents had no way to answer. Instead, they all kept their hopes out for another little miracle.

Then one day, Shane and Kasi got a call. There was a little baby, a newborn girl, who needed a family.

The parents immediately agreed to the adoption. They learned that they could pick her up as soon as the next morning.

Instead of waking up the four kids and giving them the news, the parents decided to keep it a surprise (not just for fun. They were worried about disappointing the kids if it all fell through.)

So they called up a family member to keep an eye on the still sleeping kids in the very early hours of the morning. When the family member arrived, Shane and Kasi drove out to meet who they hoped would become their daughter.

A couple of hours later, the parents returned with the baby girl, who was now officially their child.

Shane decided to record the moment when he and Kasi walked in with their daughter. And it has to be seen to be believed.

The video begins with Kasi walking inside the home into the living room while holding the baby.

Then the parents walk through into the kitchen, where Raygen and Harper are eating breakfast. The mother calls out their names, and the dad asks them what they’re doing.

The girls scream loudly when they see the baby in their mother’s arms.

“Are you kidding me?” Harper screams.

Raygen can’t quite believe what they’re seeing. The mother confirms to her that the little girl is their baby sister.

Harper runs up to the mom and baby and hugs them both. Raygen joins in. She looks at the baby, strokes her hair and then starts crying.

Shane asks Harper if she wants to hold her brand new baby sister. The girl cries out a “Yes!” The footage cuts out there, but it’s easy to imagine the joy that the family experienced next.

The Pruitts are very lucky. Their family is clearly very loving, and the children are sure to thrive.
