Many of us will remember our teenage years, when we desperately wanted to look cool and we believed our parents were put on this earth solely to embarrass us. It’s only when we reach our parents’ age ourselves that we realize we gave them a bit of a hard time back then – they really weren’t as embarrassing as we made them out to be.

Unfortunately, though, this isn’t always the case for some sons and daughters, whose parents really do make it their mission to embarrass them.

One of these teens was 16-year-old Nathan Gossett, whose mom used a traffic jam as an opportunity to get out of her car and dance, while Nathan hid in shame on his passenger seat.

On Interstate 25 in Colorado, heavy snowfall had led to the five-hour-long traffic jam, which Wendy and her son Nathan, were stuck in while making a trip from Denver to Pueblo.

Speaking to Inside Edition about the roadside standstill, Wendy said, “It was the worst day ever.” But, judging by the video of what was soon to come, Wendy didn’t plan for it to be that way for long!

It only took a Backstreet Boys tune to start playing on the radio to put Wendy in the mood for a bit of dancing. Obviously, bopping about inside her car wasn’t enough for this energetic mom, so she took things to a whole new level – and got out to dance on the road!

Wendy took to the middle of the interstate and began clapping her hands and singing along to the tune. After five hours of sitting in standstill traffic, Wendy clearly had some energy to burn. She shimmied through the stationary vehicles, showing off her best mom dancing.

The camera panned over to Nathan, who was hiding his face, clearly out of pure embarrassment.

“In my brain, I was trying to block it all out,” Nathan told Inside Edition. The poor boy had his fingers firmly plugged into his ears, doing his best to pretend the situation wasn’t happening. This was much to Wendy’s amusement, and she grinned through the window at him, checking that she’d succeeded in mortifying him, big style.

Some say it’s a mom’s duty to embarrass their kids, and Wendy certainly took her role to a new level.

But even while Nathan clearly wishes he could erase the memory from his head right now, in a few years’ time, he’ll look back on his mom’s crazy moments with fondness. She might have shown him up, but she did it with a big grin on her face. There’s obviously a lot of happiness and love in the Gossett family, and that’s the most important thing of all.

There’s something contagious about Wendy’s enthusiasm, which leads us to wonder what sort of place the world would be if we all took a leaf from this mom’s book during traffic jams. We’d certainly have more fun, that’s for sure!
