There’s nothing unusual about a woman giving birth twice. But what is highly unusual is a woman giving birth to the same baby twice.

It sounds like something that’s contrary to a very basic fact of life, but Margaret Boemer has given birth to the same child at two different times. And these births were months apart.

When Margaret Boemer was just five months’ pregnant, she heard terrifying news. Her unborn baby had an incredibly large tumor at the end of her spine.

The doctors would have to perform a caesarian on Boemer and remove the baby from her womb.

As everyone knows, birth at five months is very premature. She prayed that her baby would be safe and healthy. However, she was expecting her baby to spend months in the hospital, even if she survived the procedure.

The doctors had to be devastatingly honest with Boemer. They explained that there was a strong chance that her baby wouldn’t survive the procedure. But performing the caesarian was the only chance.

And the situation was urgent. In fact, the surgeons said that they had to operate within the hour. The surgeons said to Boemer, “It’s now or she will probably pass within the day.”

For five hours, the doctors carried out the urgent operation. They were determined to save the baby.

The doctors took the baby out of the womb and got to work on the tumor. It took 20 heart-thumping minutes to remove the tumor itself. But eventually, they got it off of the baby. And she was still alive.

Next, they had to tuck the baby back into the womb. Amazingly, after the child was sewn in, the doctors learned that the child was stable.

For the next three months, Boemer worried about her baby. But as the hosptial visits showed, the baby was developing normally.

And then came time for Boemer to go through with the scheduled birth.

The doctors performed a second caesarian on Boemer, and Lynly came out of the womb once more. She weighed just under the average baby weight at five pounds and five ounces.

Lynly was perfectly healthy. She carried on growing into a bright young girl. She is now walking and talking just like any other toddler.

This story really shows how amazing medical science is today. Even just a short time ago, Lynly would have had zero chances of survival. But now we live in a world where surgeons can perform complex operations on unborn children so that those children are healthy by the time they are born.

Margaret and Lynly Boemer’s story appeared on YouTube, where it has since gone viral.
