Mom leaves devoted German Shepherd dog for a whole day and he can’t stand it
Meet Johann, a German Shepherd dog who is incredibly attached to his mama. This dog really knows how to let his human know just how much he loves her.
This poor pup can’t handle it when mom leaves the house without him, even if it’s only for a short while. So, you can imagine how anxious the big guy got when his mom left him for over 24 hours for the first time ever.
If you can’t imagine it, don’t worry. We’ve found a video of their reunion that paints a pretty clear picture for you!
In the video, as Johann’s dog-sitter tells him that mom is home, he leaves the kitchen and heads for the front door!
With his ears perked up and his eyes wide open, he is focused on the entry of the front door.
As Johann approaches his mom with almost uncontrollable energy and enthusiasm, she tries to calm him by saying, “Hi” and “Hello” multiple times.
By the looks of the video, it is going to take more than that to calm this big ol’ doggy down!
Making it into the house can be a little challenging with a dog like Johann.
Once into the house, mom continues to say “Hi” to her furbaby more times than we can count.
This is clearly a buzzword for Johann, as the big ol’ floof of a dog scurries over to the couch and leaps onto the cushions, desperately awaiting his mom to join him.
While impatiently waiting, he whimpers and whines to no end.
Mom can’t seem to find a spot on the couch quick enough for her big dog. When she does, he climbs on top of her and gives her face a big slobbery kiss.
Play talk may not be helping this loveable guy calm down.
Johann’s mom playfully talks to him about how awful it must have been for him while she was gone.
This really seems to get him riled up even more, to the point that he almost knocks her sunglasses off!
He sure is happy to have his mom home after her being gone for thirty-six hours!
When mom asks him, “What did they do to you?” Johann sits right up as if he is going to tell her all about it.
It is amazing how much dogs can effectively communicate their needs to us, humans.
In an article published by AKC.org, called, “Understanding Dog Body Language” the author gives an excellent insight into how our dogs are trying to communicate with us.
There are some important key points she mentions, such as –
- deciphering dog body language
- posture
- and facial expressions.
It’s pretty obvious that Johann is telling his mom how much he loves her in all three of these capacities.
Several minutes into trying to calm Johann down, he is still hyped up!
With mom still trying to get him settled, she asks him, “Is mamma home?”
This really sends him into a whirlwind of noises, as he climbs off of her to look at the door and make sure she has really come home.
Johann seems to suffer from some pretty bad separation anxiety.
Another great article published by AKC.org is called, “Understanding, Preventing, and Treating Dog Anxiety.”
Here you will find helpful and educated information about the causes, symptoms, treatment, training, and counterconditioning needed to help both your dog and yourself. As for Johann…
It doesn’t take him long to check mom and make sure she’s real!
Getting off of mom’s lap didn’t last long.
Johann takes a quick look at the front door then spins around right back onto his mom, making sure to give her the confirmation that she is definitely home.
Towards the end of the video, Johann’s mom looks over at the dog sitter and lets him know that this is real love!
By the look on both of their faces, we’d have to agree!
Johann’s reunion with his mom is one of the sweetest examples of the inexplicable love that exists between dogs and their humans. A love that’s just too precious not to share.
