Mom passes 27 hrs after giving birth then husband’s instinct tells him to log into her pregnancy blog

It all started when Matt met Liz.

They didn’t believe in love at first sight, but then they felt it.

Their love story wasn’t easy at first.

They had to endure a long-distance relationship or LDR when they enrolled in different schools for college.

At first, it was okay, but they missed each other a lot.

Soon after, Matt couldn’t wait any longer, and in 2005, he traveled to Los Angeles to be with the love of his life.

Matt and Liz tied the knot last August 13, 2005.

The couple lived a great life, career, and a thriving relationship. It couldn’t get any better until one day in 2007, Liz discovered she was pregnant.

All their family and friends were living in Minnesota, so this meant it wasn’t easy for them to guide the couple through their journey.

That’s when Liz started a blog.

She wanted to update their family and friends, and blogging helped her.

Liz was a glowing mom-to-be.

She was bright and very positive in her outlook on life.

However, her pregnancy wasn’t that easy.

Aside from morning sickness, she also needed to be put on bed rest to avoid complications.

Because of her high-risk pregnancy, Liz was always in the hospital.

They even took her two times to the delivery room for false labor.

On March 24, 2008, Liz had an emergency C-section.

She gave birth to a beautiful but premature baby girl. Little did Matt know that his and his daughter’s lives were about to change.

The C-section went well and Liz saw her beautiful baby for a moment. The couple named her Madeline a.k.a Maddy Logelin.

Liz, having a C-section had to recuperate first and was advised to rest for 24 hours and she did.

The next day, she was told they would bring her to her daughter, so Liz tried to stand up and walk.

Matt tended to his wife as she started walking, but then Liz said, ‘I feel light-headed,” and before Matt could do anything, his wife suddenly collapsed in his arms.

The nurses rushed and asked Matt to go out as they tended to his wife, but he knew something was wrong.

Just 27 hours after Liz gave birth to her beautiful miracle, her baby girl, she passed away.

According to the doctors, a blood clot had traveled to her lungs that caused a fatal and rare pulmonary embolism.

She was just 30 years old.

Matt had lost the love of his life, his wife.

From experiencing heavenly joy because of his daughter, Matt became depressed, lost, and hopeless.

He logged in to Liz’s pregnancy blog because he missed her, then he started typing.

His thoughts and emotions poured on that first blog entry after Liz’s passing.

Before he knew it, he finished one blog article.

Matt used the blog to update their family and show them he could do it.

It was hard, but he could give Maddy the life that his late wife wanted for her.

“I just wanted to give them visual proof that I was succeeding. And that’s how it started,” Matt shared in an interview with Rachel Ray.

Unexpectedly, Matt found out that the blog started trending.

More and more people followed his story and journey.

His network comprised around 40K readers per month.

He created the Liz Logelin Foundation for her late wife’s memory.

He also wrote a book entitled Maddie: A Memoir of Loss and Love, and along with his beautiful daughter, these kept him busy.

Matt was proud of himself.

Today, Maddie is 13 years old and is a spitting image of her mother, Liz.
