Mom teaches rental managers lesson after putting up with bed bug infestation for too long
Most people have to deal with the odd spider or ant in their home from time to time, but how about an entire insect infestation?
Well, one mom and her young son found themselves struggling to sleep each night after finding countless bed bugs all over their apartment!
The rental company refused to offer any real help, so the mom decided to take revenge.
Bed bugs are very small, brown, oval-shaped insects.
They can’t fly, but scurry along with impressive speed and are very good at hiding, so they can sneak into your home on clothes, items of furniture, bags, or bits of luggage.
Since they have such small and flat bodies, they can sneak around without people noticing, hiding away in tiny little nooks and crevices.
Bed bugs earned their name due to the fact that they tend to spend a lot of their time hiding on and around beds. Why? Well, it’s because their primary food source is human blood.
When night falls and people are fast asleep, these bugs become active, scurrying all around and biting the skin, sucking out some blood, and then crawling away to hide again until the next night.
Meanwhile, those dealing with bed bug infestations often wake up with little itchy welts. A lot of folks just tend to think that these itchy spots are caused by something else, like mosquitoes, so they can spend weeks or even months without realizing that bed bugs are involved.
Bed bugs are quite clearly pretty gross little things that nobody would want to have in their home, so it’s no surprise that one Ohio mom was devastated when she discovered a genuine infestation in her rental apartment.
According to her, the bugs were absolutely everywhere:
They crawl everywhere, upstairs, downstairs, you have to be careful when you transfer your objects… We stay up at night, I’m so paranoid.
The mom lived in the apartment with her young son for a total of nine months.
During that time, she reported the issue to the rental management company, who sent over some workers to spray the home a couple of times, but they didn’t do a good enough job, as the bugs always came back!
And when the mom complained again, the rental managers eventually stopped listening and refused to offer any more help.
The mom had to throw out all her furniture, and she and her son had to start sleeping on the floor as their mattresses were completely covered with the bugs.
So, since the managers just wouldn’t listen, the mom decided to do something drastic.
She gathered up some of the bugs in a little container and took it over to the managers’ office.
The mom then spread the bed bugs around the office, saying, “I gave them back what they gave me.”
She revealed the whole thing in an anonymous interview with Dayton 24/7 Now but could face charges of vandalism and criminal mischief if the company decides to take the matter further.
The mom is now planning on leaving the apartment and going somewhere new but says that before she leaves, she plans on putting even more bed bugs in the office to put the finishing touch on her plan of revenge.
Her plan has proven to be pretty controversial. Over on YouTube, where the interview was uploaded, some commenters support the mom, saying she did the right thing, while others say that she went a little too far. Check out the video for yourself below to make up your mind on the matter.
