Mom shares photo of ex and fiancé leaving hospital with her newborn – her words spread like wildfire
Raising a child with a blended family is a unique and difficult challenge that many parents will have to go through. In light of the breakup itself, not to mention the reasons for the breakup, coming together with someone who you chose to remove from your life is sometimes necessary for the child.
With such circumstances, the child can often feel the tension and can feel caught in the middle of two parents who he loves.
Maison Holley and her ex-partner, Tyler Mcilveen, are a window into the lives of raising a child with an ex-partner. Thankfully, their son, Cade, would be able to see his parents work together.
Madison explained:
”We were in different places and I’m very headstrong, so it was hard for us to agree on things.”
When Madison moved in with her new boyfriend, Cody, things got even more complicated.
When the relationship between Madison and Tyler was freshly ended, she wasn’t even able to text him. Cody would have to have her dictate the texts so they could communicate on behalf of their son.
Strangely, Karin, Tyler’s new girlfriend helped the two move forward.
Madison said:
“Meeting Karin was when we both became happy again. I think meeting new people who put our child first and respected that we had Cade together no matter what and us both being happy again helped,”
Karin got all four adults to sit down and put a plan in place to ensure that Cade got what was best for him.
Walking away from that meeting, everyone was on better terms and the muddied waters cleared up a bit. Moving forward seemed like it was possible and that Cade would get the best of all four of his parents.
When Cody and Madison had a child of their own, the entire blended family came together to support Madison and the new baby.
With their differences set aside, the entire blended family was able to come together and be genial towards one another. When Madison gave birth to Waylon, the whole family got to meet him. Cade was going to be a brother!
On the way out of the hospital, a photo was taken that went viral.
Madison posted the photo and said:
“This photo was taken 24 hours after I gave birth to my second baby boy, Waylon. The guy on the left is my ex, the 3-year-old holding his hand is my first child, Cade, we had together. The guy on the right holding my sons’ Right hand is my fiancé, and the newborn baby Boy is our child. Just because a relationship doesn’t work out between two people DOES NOT mean the relationship with the child shouldn’t.”
This is a great reminder that breakups between parents doesn’t mean breakups with children.
As life happens and separations are inevitable, one of the most important things to remember is that a child feels love from both parents. Psychology tells us that having two loving parents is the most important factor in raising a healthy and whole child.
