Mom marches son over to girl's house and makes him apologize for calling her 'ugly' and 'fat'
A U.K. mom wasnât about to let her sonâs mean attitude slip when she learned that he had been sending cruel messages to a girl at school.
32-year-old single mom Samm Jane was âfumingâ when her 12-year-old sonâs teachers called to say that he was sending cruel texts.
So when Dave (not his real name) got back from school, Samm asked for his phone. She found his conversation with a girl, whom he called names like âfat,â âugly,â âc**t,â ât**t,â and a âb***h.â
There were messages like, âI never want to see your ugly face in school. Your ugly face and fat body offend me.â
The girl responded with, âStop being horrible to me,â but he answered with voice notes saying, âUrgh, youâre disgusting.â
In her now trending TikTok video, Samm says she was âshaking with angerâ after seeing the messages.
Mother and son had a brief exchange with Samm eventually silencing her son.
Samm asked the school what the girlâs name was, but they wouldnât answer due to data protection rules. But she did find out where she lived.
So she had Dave spend some of the money he got for his birthday to buy flowers and chocolates for her.
Samm marched Dave to the girlâs front door, telling him to apologize to the girl and her parents.
She then confiscated all of Daveâs electronic devices as punishment. Dave offered his mom money for his phone but Samm wasnât having it.
She shared the story on June 8, a day after the schoolâs call about Daveâs behavior. Her TikTok clip has around 1.1 million views to date.
Dave celebrated his birthday the next day, though it wasnât much of a party.
Samm made her son explain what he was apologizing for at the girlâs house. Apparently, the girl never told her parents about Dave.
She then said that her son would ânever speak to a female like that again.â The girlâs mom sent her a text thanking Samm for doing the right thing.
Samm always taught Dave to respect women, so she had to remind him of how hurtful words can affect people.
âI sat Dave down and explained how people kill themselves or self-harm because of what people say,â she said. âIâve always told him about body positivity, about how women come in different shapes and sizes. Thatâs why I was so angry â why would he say all these things when Iâve told him to be respectful?â
Samm wasnât counting on her video to go viral. Her phone constantly buzzed with notifications for three days after her clip trended.
The reason she shared the video was to raise awareness on how parent should take responsibility in raising the next generation. Plus she didnât want people thinking her son wasnât being raised right.
If a million people saw her video, then a million parents can make a change in their kidsâ lives.
