Mom 'tricks' kids - says the only way to charge glow-in-the-dark pajamas is to stay still

It’s safe to say that young children can be difficult to deal with. That’s why it is perfectly acceptable for parents to tell little white lies, in attempt to get them to cooperate. It’s especially a feat when the little white lie works wonders.

This mom was having a hard time putting her kids to sleep, so she came up with a little white lie to make the process easier. Spoiler alert: It worked so well, we just might think she is a genius.

The Poughkeepsie, New York-based mother goes by the name of Jessica D’Entremont. Not too long ago, she shared a photo of her two daughters — Hannelore, 3, and Emma, 4 — falling for her clever little trick and it soon went viral on the Internet.

So, what was the lie?

She told her two children that the only way for their glow in the dark pajamas to “charge” was if the girls were laying down still.

It was fool proof — they obviously believed it, and it turned out to be the most perfect way to get the girls to wind down before hitting the pillows.

In the Facebook post, which is now viral, Jessica wrote:

“Looking for a way to keep your kids still? Buy them glow in the dark PJs. Tell them they have to lie really still under the light to ‘charge’ them. I’m not even sorry.”

In the photo, the two daughters look happy (yet sleepy!) and the mother looks thrilled. She should be after all — she came up with such a clever, effective plan! Now she is probably sleeping better too!

The mother is truly dedicated to this lie, too. She will keep the PJs in the dark all day long so that they can’t begin “charging” until the girls come up and get ready for bed.

“To expand on the trickery, I’ve started putting the PJs back into their drawer when they get dressed in the morning… unexposed to light all day, they dim and do not glow in the dark when they tried to test me last night until they laid down again. Reinforcing the need to lie quietly under the light before bed.”

I mean, of course the young girls want to see their PJs glow in the dark! For them, it is one of the most fascinating and fun things they can experience.

And while the PJs don’t actually require the girls to stay still to charge, it sure does help with the process. Plus, they don’t know that, and what they don’t know can’t hurt ’em!

The photo in the Facebook post shows her daughters falling for the trick and it is pretty darn hilarious. There they are, lying completely still on the ground, ready for their PJ’s to “charge.”

Both of the children actually have sensory processing disorder, which makes putting them to bed a little bit trickier, especially when you are a busy mom. The kids are over-sensitive to many things, so it makes it harder for them to wind down at the end of the day.

Since the post went viral, parents all over the world have been trying the little lie with their own kids and getting major success. Thanks, Jessica!
