Mom warns other parents after mistake with phone charger sends toddler flying across the room

When you are a parent with a small child, it is your absolute worst nightmare to hurt that child. Of course, there are always precautions we can take to avoid any injuries, and we usually spend 9 months learning the most that we can before the baby even comes, but still, there is no way you can know how to do everything right!

Seeing your baby hurt is the absolute worst feeling ever… No parent wishes for it, and they do everything in their power to avoid it.

However, it is impossible to be perfect and life inevitably happens.

A mother knew about child-proofing her home of course, however she was not prepared for the amount of child-proofing that would be necessary once her baby started to walk. Unfortunately, it took until something very bad happened for her to figure that out.

“Even though my house is baby proofed with outlet covers, door stoppers, baby gates, stove knob covers etc, my baby still got hurt,” the mother shared.

This mother decided to remain anonymous as she told the details of her story on the CPR Kids Facebook page. She had some words of wisdom to share and wanted to make sure that fellow parents would not make the same mistake.

The nameless mother explained that while she truly believed her entire house was baby-proofed, she did not consider the fact that she is still making a strong impact on her baby. She now knows that her baby is always watching her and now, especially because she is walking, will most likely mimic her movements.

“Please remember that your little ones are constantly watching you and trying to mimic everything you do as part of their development,” the mom wrote. “A few nights ago could’ve ended a lot differently for my daughter. Hopefully sharing this will help someone.”

So what exactly did she do? She plugged in her phone charger. Now, you’d think that would be harmless, but it’s not. Her baby watched her plug in her phone several times until it eventually became something the baby wanted to tackle.

While the mom was still in the room, the baby tried to copy her and play with the outlet herself.

The small child grabbed the other end of the charger (which was already plugged in) and stuck it in the second open outlet.

“The power strip she tried plugging the charger into (one end was already plugged in, she tried putting the phone part of charger into the outlet) popped, shot sparks and what looked like flames and black smoke and threw her a few feet across the living room,” the mom wrote.

The baby then began to scream and cry and the mother took her child to the hospital. She was kept overnight and while she ended up being okay, it was still extremely scary and something that should never, ever happen to a child.

The mother, selflessly, did not want fellow parents to go through the same thing.

Now, with the help of the CPR Kids and their Facebook page, they decided to create and share a video that taught parents how to treat burns. The video, which you can watch for yourself below, is super helpful and insightful.

Thanks to this anonymous mama, hopefully, other parents won’t be making the same scary mistake!
