Mama cat 'knocks' at door with tiny kitten and asks for place to stay
If a stray knocks at your door asking for help, what would you do?
Will you offer them a place to stay or some food to eat? Are you going to shoo them away? It seems difficult to answer now but maybe this video can help you decide.
Stray or not, a mother’s love will always put the children first. It is not only behavior that’s seen in humans, but in different species as well.
In a viral video, a calico cat purred by a door.
In her mouth was a little kitten. The kitten was probably just a few days old, especially on how it looked. Then, the owner of the house opened the door for her.
Almost immediately, the mother cat hopped inside where it was warm and much safer. She took one of her kids inside a crate lined with corrugated cardboard.
It’s not much but it was way more comfortable than sleeping outside, especially when she has kittens to dress and tend to.
When the first kitten was all settled in, the mother cat hopped out of the house again.
Then, it disappeared behind the larger door. A few moments later, it emerged with a kitten in her mouth. Then one after the other, she carefully placed her kittens inside the crate.
One final time, she went back to where she was getting her kittens just to check if she left anyone behind. With all of her children accounted for, she went back to the crate to reunite with her kittens.
The owner of the video didn’t share many details about the cat.
It is not known whether she was rescued or a stray who just begged to be let in. Nonetheless, it is good to see that she is getting along with the other cats in the house.
When she’s not grooming or feeding her young, the mother cat rests together with the other felines.
It didn’t take long before the family became much more comfortable.
At one point she even ignored the property’s original house cat. Fortunately, the cat was more than willing to share space with others.
The hungry mom also helped herself with some kibbles. Then, when it was time for her kids to eat, they all squealed to call her attention.
They don’t have to worry anymore now because they have their own place to rest. The mother cat settled on her side and curled around her hungry kittens.
According to a news outlet, abandoned animals in South Korea climbed by 12 percent.
Last 2019, over 135,000 animals were categorized as lost or abandoned. The bulk of the numbers was taken by cats and dogs. It was an increase from over 120,000 the previous year.
Hopefully, with government initiatives, they can lessen the incidences through rehoming. The country is also experiencing an uptick in pet ownership with the number of newly registered dogs increasing four-fold.
The number is vastly different in the United States. According to ASPCA, around 6 million animals enter shelters annually with more than half being cats.
Watch how this mom asked for help so her kittens can have a place to stay.
