Mother-daughter team goes viral getting “Footloose” during quarantine

The spring of 2020 will probably be remembered as a time when most of us needed to find entirely new things to do in order to entertain ourselves while we abided by lockdown orders. Nothing was open, it was dangerous to see friends, and to a large extent, things are mostly the same.

But if you’re still looking for things to do, you might consider following in the footsteps of Erica Pike and her daughter Izzy.

What a pair

The Pike team shares a love of dance – mom is a professional dancer who has experience working on cruise ships and at The Carolina Opry Theater. She’s also a choreographer and dance teacher – and she homeschools Izzy. So it’s easy to see where this is going.

It starts out with two pairs of dance shoes tapping to the beat before it all breaks loose.

Izzy’s parents decided to create a YouTube channel for Izzy named “Izzy T.V.” And for the last 9 months, she’s uploaded song and dance as well as lip-sync videos.

Many of these video co-star her mom as they perform synchronized dances to everything from pop tunes to show tunes.

Getting Footloose

The duo is from Myrtle Beach, so even on a day in April, which is when they filmed this video, they could expect a sunny day.

The duo’s video shows the pair in a wide range of outfits, with backdrop both inside and outside the house, and some great choreography cooked up by mom – and it’s all combined with the ultimate dance song.

Who needs a real stage when you can create one at home?

After their “Footloose” video went viral, they were motivated to create Izzy’s channel. The caption explains:

“Izzy and her mom showing Covid-19 can’t stop the dancing. Stay safe everyone. We posted this video on another platform and in 5 days received 150,000 views, so we decided to start Izzy T.V.”

It’s not hard to love their video.

Too cute

It’s cute, it’s fashionable, it’s sassy – and it’s what lots of moms and daughters wish they could be. (Of course, you don’t need singing and dancing to have some together time, but it does add a certain level of fun.)

Viewers left some comments like:

“That’s amazing! Way to go and thanks for the smile!!!”

One mother said:

“I love this so much!!!! I want this to be my daughter and me someday! Thank you for the inspiration to keep dancing!”

High energy

In the video, the ladies show off their impressive dance skills wearing a variety of skirts, clothes, pajamas, and vast footwear! Izzy changes her dress several times in a matter of 10 seconds, through the artistic video editing.

From dancing in the kitchen to prancing on the front porch – it’s an entertaining “Footloose” sequence from beginning to end.

And dad’s there too! In fact, Izzy comes from a family of performers. Nick Pike is a professional acrobat, juggler, and comedian and he caps off the family fun.

But you don’t need any of the hoopla to get footloose yourself!

There’s no need to record it and put it on YouTube to pump yourself up with a dance party. Just about anyone can play the Kenny Loggins’ classic and dance around the house!
