Mother is told her only daughter passed away but 70 years later she finds out she’s still alive

Having a baby is one of the most memorable moments for a parent. We generally imagine the joy of holding our baby for the first time and seeing them grow with guidance. Some parents, unfortunately, aren’t that lucky.

Losing a child is heartbreaking for anyone. The love and care a parent wishes to share with their child can no longer be possible. One has to live with the loss while taking the necessary steps to heal from the pain.

Despite the situation, miracles can always happen.

Sometimes even after 69 years

In 1949, Genevieve Purinton was a young 18-year-old who just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

When she asked to see her daughter, she was told her daughter died after birth.

Purinton was heartbroken.

“I asked to see the baby and they said she died. That’s all I remember,” Purinton said in an interview with NBC News.

In 2018, Purinton was already 88 years old and living at an assisted living center in North Tampa.

Her eight siblings had already died and she has no family left. She was all alone.

Little did she know that her daughter was still alive.

Connie Moultroup always wanted to meet her biological mother.

When she was five years old, her adoptive mother died resulting in her father remarrying. She didn’t have a good relationship with her stepmother often dreamed her biological mother would show up and take her away.

“She would fantasize about her mother rescuing her since she was 5-years-old,” Bonnie Chase, Moultroup’s daughter, said in an interview.

“It’s truly her life-long dream.”

However, the mother-daughter duo wouldn’t meet for another few decades.

Moultroup lived her life and became a massage therapist in Richmond, Vermont. She got married and had kids. However, the thought of finding her biological mom never left her mind.

Bonnie Chase, Moultroup’s daughter, wanted to give her mother the ultimate Christmas gift.

β€œI never met my own biological father, and growing up, it was just me and my mom,” Bonnie shared in an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle.

β€œI remember mom trying to find her birth mother, and it was hard to see her go through that.”

Bonnie decided to buy her mom a DNA kit from Ancestry.com.

The DNA kit helped them trace their genealogy – and the results were astounding.

The DNA kit traced their cousins which lead them to Purinton.

Then one day, Moultroup received an unexpected phone call.

It was Purinton who asked on the other line:

“Where were you born? What year?”

But the last statement made her heart leap.

“I think I might be your mother.”

Moultroup was shocked but happy to finally meet her mother.

They quickly planned to meet at Purinton’s home. As you can imagine, it was a dream come true for both of them.
