Being a mother is a huge undertaking. But Patty Hernandez has to keep track of 14 kids, who are all aged under 14!

You may come from a big family, but it probably isn’t as big as this family!

When Patty became pregnant for the third time, she learned that she was going to have twins. After the twin girls, Carla and Caitlyn, were born, most people would have decided that four was enough children. But not Patty and her husband Carlos.

Instead, they kept on trying for children. And apparently, the couple is highly fertile, because Patty has always become pregnant within just months of giving birth.

In fact, Patty has spent most of the time from 2008 until now pregnant with either one or two children.

It sounds practically impossible for one woman to have 14 children in 12 years. But Patty has done it.

Admittedly, Carlos’s genetics have helped out a little in making the child count so high. He comes from a family that has many twins. Obviously, Carlos inherited the twin producing gene!

To date, he and Patty have had three whole sets of twins.

In all, their current tally of children include Carlos Jr, who is 11; Christopher, who is 10; Carla, who is nine; Caitlyn, who is nine; Cristian, who is eight; Celeste, who is seven; Cristina, who is six; Calvin, who is five; Catherine, who is five; Carol, who is three; Caleb, who is two; Caroline, who is two; Camilla, who is one; and a newborn whose name the family has not yet revealed. However, most people can probably guess the first letter of this new baby’s name. That’s right, all of Carlos and Patty’s children have names beginning with C. The parents say that they have named their children with names beginning with C in honor of the children’s father.

So why have they had so many children? The couple has stated that they’re “just doing what God tells us to do.”

Carlos also comes from a very large family. He has 12 siblings himself. He must have been happy when his fourteenth child arrived. Talk about outperforming your parents!

Of course, with so many kids, Patty and Carlos have lives that are very different than most people’s.

Patty is often incredibly busy with looking after her legion of children. In fact, she says that she gets through seven whole gallons of milk each week! And every time she goes to the grocery store, she runs up a bill of at least $400.

To sustain his huge family, Carlos works as a floor cleaner.

The couple also says that their children have really impacted their personal lives. They can’t remember the last time they went out on a date. Although they clearly aren’t too tired to actually go about the business of making babies.

So will Carlos and Patty continue to have many, many more children? It looks like they will.

Patty has said the following: “If God wants us to have 30 kids, I’ll have 30 kids.” If that’s the case, then the good news is that Patty is already almost halfway to that goal.

Most people have a hard time looking after just one child. But if Carlos and Patty are happy with their huge family, who are we to judge?
