There are so many times when a song is redone or re-mixed and it sounds horrible. Are you with me? But, that’s not the case when Lionel Richie got creative with his famous “Hello”.

He re-recorded his hit with Jennifer Nettles as part of a plan to re-record some of his famous hits with country stars. He also sang with Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, and Rascal Flatts.

With the duet with Nettles, Richie also performed it with her live on stage.

Nettles has been the lead vocalist of the duo Sugarland since 2003. She also released a solo album in 2014. Sugarland won a Grammy in 2008 for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group. So, she’s no stranger to success.

There’s no doubt that Richie looks different than he did when he was at the peak of his solo career in the ‘80s, but his sound is still as smooth. The audience surely agrees.

There were two young ladies in the audience with a special interest in this performance. Richie’s daughters, Nicole and Sofia, were there. You can see the admiration in their eyes.

As Nettles and Richie continue to sing, they don’t miss a beat. They have an undeniable chemistry on the stage that keeps the audience engaged. Hello? You would think the two were singing this song their entire lives. They’re just that good!

If Richie was judging this performance on “American Idol” he would surely send it a golden ticket to Hollywood. This wasn’t just a one-time performance for Richie. He’s still been going strong, touring and staying active in the music biz. With performances like this, it’s no wonder people are still paying to see him.
