Newbown baby girl with feet the size of pennies beats all the odds
Babies are a wonderful addition to a family. Oftentimes, expecting families hold baby showers and gender reveal parties to mark the momentous event. Moreover, they hope that everything goes as planned during the delivery.
Expecting parents pray that their baby comes out healthy and happy. However, sometimes there are kinks in the plan. There are some situations wherein certain babies are born a bit different – but it doesn’t mean that they aren’t special.
In fact, they often serve as an inspiration.
One of these inspirational babies is Francesca Bradley-Curran.
Victoria Bradley and Paul Curran are Francesca’s parents. They live in a quaint neighborhood in Liverpool, Merseyside. Like any expecting parents, they were over the moon when they found out they were going to have a baby. However, they didn’t expect that their baby would arrive so soon.
At only 24-weeks, Victoria went into labor.
If Victoria had gone into labor two days before, her baby’s life would have been considered unviable due to the low survival rates in that window. There would be no legal way for them to intervene.
Francesca weighed only one pound and six ounces.
Her feet were the size of pennies! She was so tiny that doctors warned her parents that there is a high chance she would never walk or talk properly. It was heartbreaking for the small family. But little Francesca wanted to prove the doctors wrong.
With the help of the nurses and doctors in the hospital, Francesca began to thrive.
Francesca was a fighter. It helped that she was loved by her parents and taken care of by the nurses. It was truly a miracle to see her battle each day.
“She battled meningitis, pneumonia, three bouts of sepsis, two collapsed lungs, acute kidney injury and had 16 blood transfusions and laser eye surgery before she left hospital.”
Today, she is a happy child attending school.
She is able to play with other kids, talk incessesantly about her day, and learn new things. She even wear clothes two years above her age group.
“It’s crazy to think that the doctors told us even if she did survive she would never walk or talk, but now we can’t get her to sit still or be quiet.”
Miracles do happen, and for the couple, Francesca is their miracle. She doesn’t have any deformities.
“When I talk to other premature baby mums their children are all still really small but Francesca wears aged 6-8 clothes and she has perfect vision.”
Francesca is a happy kid who inspired many people.
“From the minute she opens her eyes she’s a constant ball of energy.”
Francesca’s story inspired many parents with premature babies. The couple even shared that they would look back on those hard times and feel hope – because at the end of every dark tunnel is a light.
