Woman sees tiny newborn kitten barely alive on concrete, saves her just in time

It must’ve been an absolutely heartbreaking sight: seeing a poor, tiny and helpless animal at the side of the road who is just inches away from death. One day, a kind woman found an abandoned newborn baby cat lying on a slab on concrete, and it seemed like the stray didn’t have much life left in her.

The stray kitten was completely alone with no owner or mom in sight. She was wet, malnourished, and completely helpless.

Right away, the woman grabbed a napkin to pick the poor feline up and brought her home with her. This kitten was in desperate need of some warmth, comfort, and foot – and that’s exactly what she was planning to give her.

All of the woman’s family members did the best possible job to take care of this adorable small cat, and they even patiently fed the four-footer some milk by bottle. It took a while before the baby cat was back to a hundred percent, but you could definitely tell her condition was improving every single day.

One the woman’s children actually posted the pictures and the story of the cat on Imgur and Reddit a while ago, where it was quickly seen by many.

They decided to name the cat ‘Iris’, and one of her kids said he’s in very good in hands. They were also surprised to see so many positive and heartwarming comments from people, praising them for their efforts to save this adorable cat as well as giving them nurturing tips.

“My mom and my little brother are taking care of it now, they named it Iris. I will make sure my mom can read all your nice comments!” one of the children posted on Imgur.

We don’t know an awful lot about how the kitten is doing now since the post is from a couple of years back, but she was presumably adopted by another family, or perhaps she even found a forever home right there.

It’s estimated that there are roughly sixty million stray cats in the United States alone, although the number isn’t an exact science. Iris is definitely lucky that she had someone who took care of her when her life was hanging on a very loose thread.

What to do when you find a stray cat or dog in need?

If you spot a stray animal on the streets and it looks like it definitely needs help, it’s important to make sure that the cat or dog is completely safe and isn’t in any danger. Taking care of it and providing access to food, water, and shelter definitely is a must. Too many stray animals die every year because they simply don’t have these three basic necessities.

The next step should be to let one of your local animal organizations know about the stray, to see if they can help. Perhaps it’s not a stray after all, but a lost pet who would like to return to his owners. It can be hard to track down a potential owner if there isn’t a microchip, but reaching out to local Facebook groups definitely can’t hurt.

And if the four-footer doesn’t seem to have an owner, you can definitely surrender your rescued pal to the local Cats Protection shelter who will do their best to find them a loving forever home. That is if you haven’t made the adoption yourself, of course.

In any case, it looks like Iris’s life has definitely taken a step in the right direction!
