Twins have a special bond that most people cannot comprehend. But is this bond already present at birth? This story suggests that the answer is yes.

When Dane and Lisa Lyman learned that they were expecting twins, they were overjoyed.

They hoped that as the babies grew, they would form a close friendship. In actuality, the twins would be close right away.

A few months later, they found out that the babies would be boys.

The couple was overjoyed. They already had two non-twin girls. Soon they would have an even number of boys and girls in the house!

Then, Lisa went into labor. After a smooth birth, the couple could see their baby boys, Weston and Caleb, for the first time.

They were beautiful. But then they did something that would surprise the parents.

The doctor lifted up one of the babies for a quick examination. The second that Weston got lifted up from Caleb, both babies started crying their eyes out.

They had been together for nine months in the womb. Clearly, they couldn’t cope with spending any time whatsoever apart.

So the doctor placed Weston next to Caleb once more, and both of the babies soon settled down as if they had never been crying.

Later, the doctor tried lifting Caleb, and the babies started crying again. And once more, when the babies were back together, they calmed down. Every time that one of the twins was lifted, they would start hollering, even when they had been sound asleep. And every time, they would quieten down when they were back together.

Amazingly, the parents worked out that the babies became especially calm whenever their cheeks touched one another. Perhaps this is how they had comforted one another in the womb?

The family was amazed to see this. Dane even decided to record it. He uploaded the footage to his Facebook page, where it became very popular.

To date, the video has gained over 182,000 views. It also has more than 350 reactions, 400 shares and 50 comments.

Of course, as the weeks and months passed, the twins became more aware of the world around them and were happy to spend more time apart. But the parents found out that the babies could still have a calming effect on one another.

When the babies were a couple of months old, Dane, Lisa, Caleb and Weston all appeared on the news. Lisa discussed how the babies still had the power to make one another relax:

“In fact, last night they were sleeping, and one of them would be fidgeting, and I put the other one next to him, and he just kind of calmed down, and I was able to sleep.”

Dane also reported that his daughters had completely fallen in love with Caleb and Weston.

The girls were four years old and two years old at the time and just wanted to smother their baby brothers with kisses and hold them by themselves.

Both parents had a baby boy in their hands for that interview, showing that the boys were comfortable with a little distance.
