CEO leaves corporate world and started saving all the street dogs

Street dogs in Thailand confront numerous hardships as a result of their homeless status. With an estimated population in the millions, overpopulation is a significant concern. These dogs often struggle to find sufficient food and shelter, leading to malnutrition and increased vulnerability to diseases.

Limited access to veterinary care exacerbates their health issues, and the lack of spaying and neutering programs perpetuates the cycle of overpopulation. While some communities and temples offer support to local street dog populations, the overall conditions for street dogs in Thailand remain challenging.

Efforts to address these issues are underway through the collaborative work of local and international organizations, as well as the Thai government. Rescue initiatives, medical treatment, sterilization campaigns, and public awareness programs are being implemented to improve the welfare of street dogs.

However, the magnitude of the problem, coupled with limited resources, presents ongoing challenges in effectively addressing the condition of street dogs in Thailand. That’s why this kindhearted man literally stepped down just to cater to these homeless street dogs’ needs.

Now, he and his team are feeding approximately 800 street dogs a day!

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Niall Harbison!

Niall Harbison is an Irish media entrepreneur who underwent extreme depression and alcoholism.

He decided to leave the corporate world and he is now dedicated to caring for Thailand’s street dogs. He currently looks after 80 street dogs by giving them food, medicine, vet care, and sterilizing them to help stop the flow of puppies.

He funds the project himself ($2000-3000 per month) as well through donations he has raised here.

Feeding them is a small part that only costs about $30 per day but it is the vet, medicine, and sterilizing bills that quickly add up. To sterilize one dog costs around $50 all in. Every penny donated goes directly towards helping the dogs.

He donates all his time for free and he also covers any banking or platform fees to ensure it helps the dogs directly.

Harbison is planning to set up a foundation and is looking for suitable land for a sanctuary for sick dogs.

Harbison takes it upon himself to personally feed around 80 to 90 dogs, using his scooter as a means of transportation. As he travels from one location to another, his furry friends eagerly await their turn, their tails wagging in anticipation.

The remaining 700 dogs are cared for by the dedicated volunteers who form an integral part of Harbison’s team.

In his noble task, Harbison is accompanied by a local helper, who assists him in various ways. McMuffin and Derek, Harbison’s loyal dogs, lend their expertise by conducting “quality checks” on the food, ensuring that each meal meets their discerning standards.
