For six years, two-thirds of his life, Jordan has been in foster care. He’s been separated from his only family member and wants a home of his own.

When he was just three years old, Jordan went into the foster system of Oklahoma.

At first, he was with his younger brother, Braison. But soon, they ended up getting put into different homes.

Jordan went from home to home, unsure of when he would see his brother again or if he would ever find any stability.

Occasionally, Jordan and Braison were able to meet up with one another and play.

But they didn’t get to experience the closeness that most brothers share when growing up together.

Then a family expressed interest in adopting Braison. But they had no room for Jordan. So Jordan had to see his younger brother find a family, while he was still all alone.

Braison also saw less of Jordan after he got adopted. His family just lived too far away for frequent visits.

“It was very difficult for Jordan. He misses his brother a lot.” – Christopher Marlowe, Child Welfare Specialist.

Still, Jordan remained hopeful that things would get better.

He believed that his brother’s adoptive family would make an effort to meet up with him when they could. And most of all, he hoped that there was a family out there somewhere for him.

A local news team then made a story about Jordan. They asked him where he would go if he could go anywhere in the world. His response was as follows:

“To a adoption party for a home.”

Similarly, when asked what he would wish for if he were to be given three wishes, Jordan responded that he would only wish for family.

The reporters also asked Jordan what kind of family he wanted. He said that he wanted a mom and a dad. Or just a mom. Or just a dad.

“The reason why it’s important is because so I could have some people to talk to any time I need to.” – Jordan.

Most of us take our families for granted.

Sure, no family or parent is perfect. But at least most of us had parents who showed us love, bought us things and supported us as we made our way into the world. Jordan has not had any of this. But that may soon change.

The news report appeared on TV and online in August 2020. People all over the world were touched by Jordan’s story.

And many people decided then and there that they wanted to become Jordan’s family.

Soon, people all over America had contacted the news channel, expressing interest in adopting Jordan.

In just two days, the adoption agency was inundated with more than 5,000 adoption applications for Jordan.

Christopher Marlowe, the child welfare specialist in charge of Jordan, is currently going through all of those applications. It will take a while, but he’s excited for Jordan. Surely, among those applicants, there is a perfect match?

Of course, the adoption process is lengthy. Jordan’s search to find a family is far from over.

But for the first time, the one thing that Jordan wants appears to be within reach.
