Former nurse opens hospice for abandoned senior dogs dying without love

Nicole Coyle is a 46-year-old retired nurse who has turned her home into hospice care for aging or terminally ill dogs.

Her heart has been broken throughout the years after witnessing families abandon their sick or old dogs without so much as a care in the world.

Nicole cares, however, and she’s going to do whatever she can to help these dogs.

She named her center “Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice Project” and accepts dogs into her home that have been given less than 6 months to live.

Nicole isn’t just putting her home up for the cause, however, she’s also using her life savings to pay for them to have the best end-of-life possible.

“We provide end of life care for abandoned dogs.We take only dogs that are from UK pounds that have been deemed as having less than six months to live,” reads the organization’s description on Facebook.

Nicole was motivated to do this after seeing terminally ill dogs abandoned by their families.

She’s not content to just give the dogs homes for the remainder of their lives, however. Nicole wants to provide them with the best and most luxurious time possible.

The dogs in Nicole’s care are given steak and ice cream, a luxury most other dogs would be quite envious of! They get treats, playtime, and even trips to the beach! Most of all, they feel loved and cared for in their final days.

Those who have experienced losing a pet, know what a difficult task Nicole is faced with.

She will develop emotional connections with these dogs, only to lose them a short while later. Nicole likely keeps her spirits up by remembering what a wonderful thing she did for those dogs during their final moments on Earth.

Thanks to the care and treatment the dogs are given at the Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice Project, some are able to beat their diagnosis and live longer than expected.

The folks at The Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice Project recognize that the high-cost of healthcare for our pets is what drives some unfortunate pet owners to abandon sick or dying dogs.

That’s why they also provide funding for those who need it to care for their canine companions by funding Abandoned Animal Rescue.

Unfortunately, the cost of healthcare for the dogs in their care can get expensive. Recently, they took this little lady named Sassy to the vet to have some dental work done and have some lumps investigated. The Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice Project posted to Facebook to ask for donations to help with Sassy’s care.

“Our beautiful Sassy is off to the vets tomorrow for a dental and to have some lumps investigated.
The cost of this will be between £350 and £450.
Please help if you can,our vet bills are always a huge worry,” they wrote.

Life is precious for humans and animals.

Nobody should have to go through the end of their lives without feeling the warmth, love, and kindness of others. Thanks to Nicole’s inspiring work and the efforts of everyone from the Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice Project, every animal that they take in ends their life feeling cared for by those around them.
