Sheriff's office posts touching photo to shed light on what police officers do every day

Nobody’s perfect

We often hear this anywhere. Sadly, some of us forget that even the kindest people on earth make mistakes. The worst is we judge someone because of a single mistake he did.

Some people also tend to generalize a group of people because of the mistakes of a few people who are part of that group.

This is what the police also experiences due to the mistakes that were committed by other police officers. In one of Police 1 articles – written by Paul Cappitelli, there are “10 things that fuel negative police image among the public”.

When a police officer did one of these things, there are chances that his fellow cops would get the same judgment from other people even though they are doing the right thing. Undeniably, that’s the sad reality.

That’s why this anecdote from the Clinton County IL Sheriff’s Office has been making rounds on social media.

It’s a heartwarming story that shows what police officers do every day to serve the people.

“You won’t see or hear about this on the evening news but this is something we deal with regularly,” Dan Travous wrote.

Dan is the acting chief deputy of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office in Carlyle, Illinois.

The whole post also tells about how the officers took care of a child who was taken into protective custody.

Three officers made sure that the kid was properly attended to. Correctional Officer Litteken shelled out his own money to buy the child’s needs such as clothes, a stuffed toy, and diapers.

Of course, apart from the material things, the child also needed someone who would spend time with him.

We all know how important quality time is for kids. They need attention and proper care.

Fortunately, Detective McClaren and Deputy Davis were there to do that essential thing.

“The picture shows Detective McClaren watching cartoons with a sleeping child in our telecommunications center. Our staff, including Deputy Davis who took the child into protective custody, cared for the child for over six hours until a family member was able to take over custody.”

For those people think that all cops are bad, this is the story that they should hear. If one of them isn’t doing his job right then it doesn’t mean that other cops also do the same.

There are still many police officers who work hard and who are willing to go above and beyond the call of duty.

This is also what the Acting Chief Deputy Dan Travous wants to tell the world.

“I don’t write this to toot our own horn, but to try and show what sheriff offices and police departments all over the country do every day. The national press would rather fixate on the negative. I’m here to tell you, 99.9% of sheriff’s deputies and police officers, are just like Detective McClaren, Deputy Davis, and Correctional Officer Litteken. They chose a profession and have given their hearts to help and serve their communities every day!!!”

Hopefully, this viral post will make all the difference across the globe.
