Four loyal geese protect old woman like they're her personal bodyguards

When you’re small, elderly, a woman, or all three, worrying about your safety is probably constant. Thus, this senior Korean woman made the wise choice of having not one, not two – not even three- but four guard Geese to protect her.

Yes, guard Geese

While most of us decide to get guard dogs like the simpletons and peasants we are, this grandma got herself a quartet of feathery, honking guardians who’ll gladly go to battle with anything that tries to harm her.

Or at least, whatever they think is trying to harm her

And in fact, the use of Geese as guard animals isn’t as strange as you might presume. Geese have historically made for surprisingly effective guard animals. While most waterfowl are small, unassuming birds that want nothing more than to be around water, the Domesticated Geese are 10 kilograms of pure, unadulterated, feathery anger.

In order to put that into perspective, most waterfowl, wild Geese included, tip the scales at just over 4 kilograms. The Domesticate white Geese, or Anser anser domesticus, are literally over twice the size of their wild kin.

Now multiply that by 4, and it’s hard to imagine anything trying to cross this lady’s bodyguards

The Goose grandma who looks after these 4 acquired them after a brain hemorrhage operation 3 years prior. An operation that subsequently left her mute for 3 months. Thus, the geese are both her therapy and guard pets.

“Three years ago, I wasn’t able to speak for three months after having a brain hemorrhage operation. But living with them feels like I’m in paradise without any concerns in life.”

Although to be fair, it’s easy to not have any concerns when you have 4 angry feathered dinosaurs as your own personal queen’s guard. Anyone who’s encountered, for example, a Canada Goose knows how nasty Geese can be if you so much as look at them the wrong way.

And the same blood from the dinosaurs and the Canada geese flows through the veins of Goose Grandma’s four, fierce, feathery grandchildren. Any living thing foolish enough to get too close to Granny Goose will have to answer to the Anser.

And that’s when the attack comes. Not from the front, but from the side – from the other two Geese you didn’t even know were there

This woman has little to fear, although the people living near her do. Unfortunately, this can often include her own guests! People’s dogs often regret crossing her Geese when she’s out for a walk with them.

Furthermore, just to drive the point home that these Geese aren’t afraid of anyone. they even chased out the filming crew who was recording this video.

It’s fitting then, that the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park had Geese used as part of their sound effects. Clever girl.

Why are Geese so fierce though?

It might have to do with their innate sense of protectiveness. They may have evolved this to protect their young at all costs. And just like how we domesticated dogs for their instinctive loyalty, the fiercely protective instincts of the Goose might extend to any human companions they warm up to.

And their keeper and grandma is lucky to have them. Every time she goes for a walk, runs errands, or needs to return home, she need not worry about much. Her Geese guardians won’t let anybody lay a finger on her.

Maybe if you’re looking for a potential guard animal, you could quite literally take a gander and get a good old guard Goose.
