Abused cat is thrown out of the house – and he walks until he can’t walk anymore
It’s a given that some people should just stay away from animals completely. Apparently, some think it’s okay to abuse and mistreat animals for no good reason at all. In this severe case, a poor kitten was literally thrown out of his home and physically abused.
The cat in question, Ozzie, definitely hasn’t had an easy life at his previous owner.
While he did have a roof over his head, that was pretty much all. What Ozzie had to endure inside was absolutely terrible and unhuman. It first started with blatant disrespect and neglect – the poor feline’s skin was matted and dirty, his teeth were completely rotten and his bones were in abysmal condition. Perhaps the one thing that was broken the most, however, was Ozzie’s heart.
It didn’t take long before his owner started throwing him around as well. At the age of 15 years old, Ozzie had very fragile bones and his condition wasn’t exactly great, to begin with.
To make matters worse, his owner then literally threw Ozzie out of the house.
The poor cat was left all by himself wandering around the streets of North Vancouver, British Colombia. Luckily, Ozzie managed to meet a few animal rescuers, but they were absolutely shocked and heartbroken when they saw the four-footer. His fur was extremely matted and the cat was just clearly exhausted: he basically couldn’t walk anymore. Rescuers from the Animal Advocates Society found him hiding under a porch.
“It was so tight between his legs that walking was painful for poor Ozzie,” the animal organization wrote on Facebook. “Who knows how far the poor old boy struggled to walk until he gave up and huddled on that porch?”
The rescuers believe that Ozzie had been homeless for at least a couple of days when they first found him.
“We found out that Ozzie had been missing only a few days, meaning he had reached this state while in his owner’s ‘care,’” they added. “His owner hadn’t bothered to try to find him.”
However, all that neglect and abuse would finally stop for poor Ozzie. The rescuers were committed to taking care of him the best they could, making sure he would be back to a hundred percent and they also wanted to find him a loving forever home.
The first thing they did was take him to a vet, and the feline needed a lot of tests to make sure every issue could be dealt with. He needed a clean shave to get rid of the matted fur and finally also got his teeth fixed, which was probably the most urgent.
“As soon as he was put on thyroxin he began gaining weight and became more active. His scabs have healed, and we have had a lot of dental done,” Animal Advocates stated on their website.
Not long after Ozzie received his treatments, a kind woman stepped up to take care of Ozzie until they find him a more permanent home.
“He follows me everywhere and talks the whole time,” Ozzie’s new foster mom said. “He sits with me on the couch and loves the blanket. If I stop patting him, he touches my cheek with his paw, being careful not to claw. He is so sweet.”
