Olivia Newton-John is an Australian-born singer, songwriter, and actress. She gained international fame for her role as Sandy in the musical film “Grease” (1978), alongside John Travolta.

Newton-John’s successful music career includes numerous chart-topping hits, such as “Physical,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and “I Honestly Love You.”

She has received multiple Grammy Awards and other accolades for her contributions to the music industry.

But no one saw this song coming.

Newton-John’s versatile talent allowed her to transition between pop, country, and adult contemporary genres.

Additionally, she has been involved in philanthropic efforts and advocacy for cancer research and awareness, having battled breast cancer herself.

According to her husband, John Easterling, Olivia was first diagnosed back in 1992. Sadly, Newton-John left us on August 8, 2022.

She was 73.

She had one last tune to sing.

She managed to record a song together with another music icon and philanthropist, Dolly Parton.

Because of the restrictions brought by the pandemic, the recording was done separately to ensure both Olivia’s and Dolly’s safety.

The two artists joined forces and beautifully sang Dolly’s 1973 hit single, “Jolene”, a song that tells the story of a woman pleading with “Jolene,” a beautiful woman, not to steal her husband.

“Jolene” reached the number one spot on the country music charts in the United States and Canada.

Its popularity extended beyond the country genre, and it has been covered by numerous artists over the years, including Miley Cyrus, Pentatonix, and The White Stripes, among others.

The song’s timeless appeal, emotional lyrics, and Parton’s heartfelt delivery have made “Jolene” a classic in her repertoire and a beloved song among music fans.

But no one sings it like Olivia.

Both admitted that they’d been long waiting for this moment to happen and they were so excited about this project.

The recording was made under Primary Wave Music and was released just a couple of months ago.

Two music icons in one performance!

Soon, from two different recording studios, both Olivia and Dolly started powering through their respective lines.

Although they’re both known for country music, there was still a distinct difference between their voices that perfectly compliments one another.

Apart from their singing prowess, the cinematography added more sugar and spice to the entirety of Dolly and Olivia’s performance.

I bet even those who weren’t born during the era of country music or perhaps, don’t know what country music is would love their duet.

Olivia shined like the diamond she was.

Knowing country music, it’s made specifically for celebrations and all types of festivities.

This duet is nothing short but a celebration of good music and memories left by Newton-John.

Despite Olivia’s absence, her contributions to both the film and music industries will always be remembered.

We couldn’t agree more. Apart from their contributions to film and music, both Olivia and Dolly were also philanthropists.

We are all glad ONJ still managed to film this despite her condition. She’s truly a warrior and an icon worth looking up to.
