Make the perfect, toasty, cheesy egg sandwich using just one pan
Making breakfast can easily turn into a much longer affair if you include the cleanup and all of the dishes. Sometimes it’s just easier to grab that granola bar or bowl of cereal.
But if breakfast really is the meal that sets you up for the day’s success, shouldn’t it have some protein in addition to carbs?
If you’re looking for a quick way to make a delicious breakfast involving eggs without the hassle of kitchen clean-up, we’ve got the perfect recipe for you: One Pan Egg Toast.
Ok, so we’re not exactly talking about the pinnacle of health food here, but sometimes you just need a tasty start to the day that includes at least some good energy.
So, to start, you’ll need to gather the following ingredients (choosing your favorite types of the first two):
Ingredients:
- 1 slice of bread
- 1 slice of cheese
- 2 eggs
- A pinch of salt
- A pad of butter
You can also add any veggies or meat you’d like once you get your method down.
It should go without saying that the type of bread and cheese you use is totally up to you (and you can skip the cheese).
Now, there are just a few simple steps for completing this recipe and you just need a bowl, a fork, and an implement to lift your toast.
Instructions:
Step 1: Cut your slice of bread and slice of cheese in half.
Step 2: Beat your two eggs and add a pinch of salt to the mixture.
Step 3: Turn your burner to medium, let your pan heat up, and add your dab of butter, letting it melt almost completely.
Step 4: Now add your egg mixture to the pan just as you would for scrambled eggs.
Step 5: Next, take a half slice of toast and coat both sides in the egg mixture. Repeat with the other half and then place the slices with the cut sides facing each other, with about an inch of egg in between.
Step 6: You’ll end up with a bit of an odd-looking omelet with two pieces of bread in the middle, but don’t worry, you’re doing it right!
Step 7: After the eggs have solidified, flip over the entire contents of the pan so the bread is on the bottom.
Step 8: Fold the cooked eggs into the sandwich so it’s all contained within the crust of the bread.
Step 9: Now, add any fillings you’d like (salsa, jam, bacon) on one side as well as your slices of cheese on the other.
Step 10: Finally, fold one side of the bread on top of the other to create your sandwich!
Step 11: If you like things a little more toasty and melty, you can add a bit more butter to the pan and continue toasting each side like you would a grilled cheese sandwich.
Now you’re ready to dig in!
Simply cut it in half and wait a minute or two to let the sandwich cool off before you bite in. (No one likes to start the day by burning the skin off the top of their mouth!)
It’s an easy recipe that allows you to alter it to your taste.
