People are going bonkers for this “Oreo”-colored dog
Referred to on the Internet as “Oreo Cloud” after going viral several months ago, this fluffy pup’s name is actually Chief.
“Oreo cloud is our favorite nickname for him since he looks like an Oreo Mclurry fluff,” his owner Sara Hamilton told Bored Panda.
“We named him Chief because he will grow to be around 85 pounds and also because he is most definitely a leader, not a follower,” she explained. “He came to us fully potty-trained at 8 weeks and is very well-behaved, he learns quickly!”
The photos went viral after Hamilton shared two of them on the popular Facebook group called Dogspotting Society, which has over 1 million members.

People then went over to Instagram to follow his every move – even his naps!
Oreo loves to cuddle and he will sleep on his humans – the only problem is that he has “the loudest snore out of everyone in the household,” according to his mom.

Hamilton got the dog near the time COVID-19 quarantine began.
“Perfect timing now that we have a lot of time to spend with him as a puppy. He came to us from Omaha, Nebraska, which is about a 1,700 mile journey to Northern California! We are a recently married couple and we felt this was a great time to add to our little family. He also has a chameleon brother,” she said.

And it turns out Oreo is quite the smarty pants. While it has been tough to enroll him in training because of the pandemic, one day he will become a therapy dog.
“I have a background volunteering with sick kids in hospitals,” said Hamilton, “…so I knew that he would be the most amazing therapy dog that would help bring a little joy to those in their darkest moments.”

Now, at not even a year old, he’s simply a bigger ball of fluff.

He’s been home and learning lots of new tricks – as well as basic manners – in preparation for school.
“He is progressing very well,” his mom bragged. “Once the world heals and we can resume normal life, we will be taking him to attend a series of basic dog training and therapy classes. Once he is one year old and has taken the essential classes, he can officially take his final test to be certified. Then he will be working weekly visits in children’s hospitals.”

At around 80 pounds, he’s a much bigger Oreo shake these days, but he’s grown into his fluff and become a great companion to children. He still hasn’t been to formal training because of quarantine protocols, but his owners have done everything they can to socialize him.
“He loves playing with other dogs and children,” Hamilton told Bored Panda. “Now that he’s older, he’s proved to be a very patient pup that is curious to learn, but ultimately he’s just as perfect if not more than the first day we got him.”

Of course, he can also be a bit of a goofball.
“He especially loves running and jumping straight into the chilly clear waters, which usually encourages laughter among several bystanders.”

And that’s not his only quirk.
“Chief’s favorite treat in this entire world is watermelon!” Hamilton said. “If he hears someone say ‘watermelon’, he will come running.”

The cookie-colored puppy is also very diligent about his toys:
“His favorite toy is still the very first toy we bought him which is a raccoon squeaky toy. He keeps all of his toys in excellent condition which we find hilarious.”
